Adams Central Elementary Office News May 2022
A NOTE FROM THE OFFICE...
Dear Families-
It's hard to believe that we are at the end of the 21-22 school year. This is always a bittersweet time of year as we close one chapter and enter another. As we close the year, there are wonderful memories to reflect on such as academic accomplishments, new and continued relationships, PTO events, field trips, and hard work to grow each individual student.
As we enter the summer, everyone will be missed as the halls grow quiet, the classrooms become vacant, and the playground silences. But throughout the community the pools will fill, the bikes will be ridden, and the ball diamond will be filled with laughter and the joy of children. Yes, the end of the school year is always bittersweet.
I wish each student, parent, caregiver, and staff member a relaxing and enjoyable summer. Hopefully, you will have a refreshing summer with family and friends and return rejuvenated in the fall.
Mary McCullough, Elementary Principal

IDOE Parent Updates
REMINDER: Parent and Family Resources in the Learning Lab
The Indiana Learning Lab is a fantastic tool for educators and now there are new resources for parents and families! This flyer can be sent to parents and families to support their students with literacy, mathematics, digital tools, and more. A Spanish version is also now available. Educators fielding questions from parents and families can also access vetted resources to share. Contact the Office of Digital Learning with any questions.
REMINDER: Research Findings on Parent Engagement in Online Learning
IDOE has recently published the results of a research project investigating the most impactful strategies schools can use to develop meaningful parent engagement for students learning in virtual and blended environments. Printable tools for schools and parents are included. View the research findings or video preview of this research in the Indiana Learning Lab. For an even more in-depth look, join the live Professional Development (PD) with IDOE session, Supporting Online Learners & Family Engagement, at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 11. View the May PD with IDOE flyer for more information regarding upcoming sessions. Contact the Office of Digital Learning with any questions.
Thank you PTO
We appreciate all the work that is done throughout the year. Donating, volunteering, organizing, providing treats, attending meetings, and all of your support is so valuable to AC Elementary.

ILEARN Rescore Requests
If your student participated in the ILEARN assessments during the 2021-2022 test window. In accordance with Indiana Code 20-32-5.1-13, parents and schools must have an opportunity to review and/or request a rescore for any eligible open-ended item(s) to which students responded on the ILEARN assessment.
If you are interested in participating in this process, you must make arrangements to visit our school to view your student’s responses to any open-ended ILEARN items and request any rescores. There is no separate online portal for parents to access this information. Remote or virtual meetings to share or discuss test content are not allowed.
Please contact Mrs. McCullough at 260-692-6629 if you wish to review and/or request a rescore for any eligible open-ended items.
Parents or guardians must sign and date a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) at the school before viewing any test content. All test content (e.g., passages, items, responses, scoring rubrics) is secure and must not be discussed, shared, distributed, or duplicated in any way. The rescore request window is the only time student responses to open-ended items are visible. Items and responses will not be available outside of the rescore request window. Secure test content will remain in the item pool for possible use in future test administrations.
Together with Mrs. McCullough, you may view images of your child’s response to each open-ended item, as well as related sample score-point responses and scoring rubrics to help you decide whether to request a rescore for the response. The principal will submit any rescore request(s) on your behalf in the online platform if desired. A rescore request can only be submitted one time for an item. Once a rescore request is submitted, the request and/or score change cannot be reversed and the item image will no longer be visible. Pursuant to Indiana Code, ILEARN rescore requests may result in an increased or decreased scale score.
Three ILEARN rescore request windows will occur this school year to support each ILEARN assessment. Preliminary results will be available in the Online Reporting System (ORS) during the ILEARN rescore request window from May 16 – June 3, 2022.
Final results for all 2021-2022 ILEARN assessments will become available electronically
for schools on July 1, 2022. Student results will be final at that time and reflect any properly submitted rescore request data.
Please contact me with any questions about the rescore request process.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mary McCullough
