Tilghman Tiger Talk
March 25, 2022 Principal Update
2021-2022 School Year
Dear Tilghman Families,
Here are a few updates and reminders to keep you informed.
Marking Period
The quarter ends today Friday, March 25th. Quarter 4 begins on Monday, March 28, 2022. Third quarter report cards will be emailed home on April 1, 2022.
Off-site Evacuation Drill
As part of our safety plan, we are required to conduct an off-site evacuation drill. On the morning of Thursday, March 31st, TES will be exiting the building and walking across the street to Dogwood Cove Road. At that time we will gather and practice how we would organize students as well as the procedures we would follow for parent pick up in the case of a true emergency. This is just a drill and does not require you to come to the school or participate. Officer London and other TCPS staff will be on campus to assist us. Please do your best to be especially punctual this day. (Our rain date is Friday, April 1st)
PTO
We are still looking for more families to participate in the PTO. Please consider joining us. We need all voices and welcome new ideas. The next meeting is April 7th at 6:00.
There are 6 more days until the TES Spirit Wear store closes. Chincheck Sports Locker extended our deadline to Thursday, March 31st. Check out the new awesome designs! You won't want to miss this.
2022-2023 Registration Dates
Please call to schedule an appointment to register for the 2022-2023 school year. The dates are today 3/25, 4/7, and 5/4. These registration dates are for incoming Pre-K, Kindergarten, or other students new to TES. Students currently in Pre-K are already enrolled and there is nothing further parents need to do.
We Need Your Help
Our spring book fair will be held May 16th-20th. We are looking for volunteers and a coordinator. The coordinator will be in charge of overseeing the fair and volunteers, much like a manager. Ms. Decelle will have more information in the near future. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Ms. Decelle directly.

Reminder
As we head into the spring months, if your child is exhibiting any Covid related symptoms, please KEEP THEM HOME and reach out to our school nurse, Tracy Batley. tbatley@talbotschools.org She can communicate quarantine information for school and answer any questions you may have. Our parents have been wonderful at communicating student illnesses with us, so THANK YOU!
If you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Social Emotional Learning at TES- Week of March 28th- Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others
Dear Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on the Other People Mindset of Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others. It’s important to deliberately work to identify and appreciate others’ character strengths.
Identifying and appreciating the good in others is a core tenet of the Other People Mindset. This isn’t always what comes naturally. Often, it’s easier to blame others for our problems or find flaws in others to use as excuses for our own jealousy, bitterness, or resentment. The problem is that this negativity usually leads to problems -- for ourselves, for the other person, and for our relationships.
Identifying and appreciating the good in other people helps you see the world through a more positive -- and less threatening -- lens. If you’re constantly seeing the negative traits of people, you’re going to think the world is comprised of bad people -- and you’re going to operate from a defensive posture. This isn’t to say that we should be naive or see the world, and its people, through “rose-colored glasses.” It’s just that we should strive to understand people’s intent. If you see the good in another, they are likely to see the good in you.
Have a wonderful week!
ALL TCPS STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR THE ENTIRE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR!
