Title I Plan
Clio Middle School
What is Title I?
Title I is a federal entitlement program that gives funds to schools in need based on student enrollment, the free and reduced lunch percentage for each school, and other informative data.
According to the U.S. Department of Education the purpose of Title 1 funding, “is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
Title I at Clio Middle School
For Language Arts, students receive Leveled Literacy Intervention and/or Orton Gillingham. For Math, students use intervention supports from CPM math to help in filling the gaps that students have in certain math areas.
How are Students Selected?
Students are selected through our Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) process. Through this process, teachers are able to request further assistance for students who are struggling in their classes. A team meets to analyze student data to determine next steps. Sometimes, these next steps include admittance into our Title I program. Once a student begins receiving intervention support through Title I, the team meets every 6 weeks to discuss the student's progress. Progress is monitored using the STAR Reading and STAR Math assessment, DRA, and teacher input. This process keeps all parties involved and allows for adjustments in support.
Family Engagement Plan
Parent suggestions are welcomed at the school, district, and state levels because programs should reflect your child and family’s needs. You are a stakeholder in the educational process and should be heard to collaborate with program development and foster mutual understanding. We invite parents to learn about our Title I program at our annual Title I meeting, which will be held in February 2022.
Information about all events will be communicated through Facebook and in our CMS monthly newsletters.
