21 Things 4 Teachers: Options
This course provides ”just in time” training through an online interface for K-12 educators based on the International Society for Technology in Education Standards for Teachers. These standards are the basic technology skills every educator should possess. Educators will have the opportunity to develop their own skills, obtain Michigan Department of Education SCECHs, and address student skills needed to meet Michigan Educational Technology Standards (METS).
Teachers who love the idea of learning “any time, any place" will embrace the 21 Things 4 Teachers learning strands. The entire content of the 21 Things 4 Teachers full online course can be completed within the time frame by those who want to dive in to an immersive learning experience, or those looking for just-in-time training in an online environment who want to just dip their toes in to sample or “splash around” to learn a few new tech skills may choose an individual learning path from the 21 modules within the course start and end dates.
This class is a 101 and should be taken prior to the Next Gen Mini-Courses (see below).

21 Things for Teachers Plus - Next Gen Mini-Courses
Online modules run through April 24, 2017
These individual modules are recommended for teachers who have already taken 21 Things 4 Teachers in the past and are ready to dig deeper into specific topics of interest. Participants decide when to start and which modules they want to complete between their chosen launch date and April 24:
- Module 1: Enhancing Instruction for All Learners
- Module 2: Searching Safely and Strategically
- Module 3: Transforming Education-Maker Movement
- Module 4: Assessment for Teaching and Learning
- Module 5: Extending Your Classroom to the Cloud
- Module 6: Personalized Learning in the Classroom
Offered through the Lenawee ISD, this series has an open entrance/exit beginning on participants chosen start date and ending by April 24, 2017.
Because much of this content is not part of the original 21things4Teachers course, teachers who have taken 21 Things in the past may complete any of these six modules for additional SCECH credit beyond their previous 21 Things 4 Teachers experience.
Participation requires a one-time mandatory attendance at one of three scheduled orientation “launch” meetings to be held online. Participants may then elect to complete one, two, or all six 10-hour modules. Each module is designed to take 10 hours to complete, although additional resources have been provided to extend learning for those who want to do more than the minimum. SCECH credited will range from 11 to 62 (including the online launch meeting and allowing credit for additional options of a one-on-one or site visit support for individuals as requested). All assignments must be completed and portfolio materials submitted by April 24, 2017.
