Introducing the MVHS Counseling Department's Monthly Newsletter!
Meet Your Counselors
I can't believe another year has started. Whether you are returning or new to our school I hope you have an exciting year. A little about me...this is my 16th year as a School Counselor. I am part of the original staff that opened MVHS in 2009. Prior to that I was at MCHS for two years and prior to that I was a school counselor in Miami, Fl. I am excited to be focusing on the senior class this year. I enjoy helping seniors prepare for this exciting developmental step. I will be celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary this year. I am the nervous parent of one new high school student and a 7th grader. Oh and I cheer for any Florida team. You can take the girl out of Florida but you can't take Florida out of this girl.
11th Grade: Lucy Mason
A transplant from Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Brenau University with her bachelor's in psychology and her Master's in clinical counseling psychology. She danced for 22 years and has a background and minor in dance. When she was in high school, she hoped to be a Broadway star! She is a North Gwinnett Alumnae and currently resides in Suwanee GA with her husband and her dog Onyx. Her favorite holiday is Football season! Saturdays in the fall, you can find her cheering on her Georgia Bulldogs! Go Dawgs! She is your co-department chair, the MOWR coordinator, Peer Leading teacher and 11th grade counselor.
10th Grade: Joe Faulconer
Joe Faulconer was born and raised in Ohio. He also lived in Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia. He graduated from Mercer University with a degree in Community Counseling and earned a Specialist Degree in School Counseling from UGA. He enjoys fitness and exercise, cooking, gardening, music and playing guitar. He roots for Ohio State in football and University of Kentucky for basketball. He has 2 grown daughters.
9th Grade (Last names A-O): Brittany Davidson
Although a Georgia native, Ms. Davidson moved to South Carolina where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and minor in Dance Performance from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. It did not take long for Ms. Davidson to recognize her passion for working in the schools and helping students reach their full potential. She decided to pursue her Ed.S in School Counseling from the University of South Carolina, where she also became a huge fan of Carolina football... Go Gamecocks! She could not stay away from Georgia for long and upon graduation from USC , she moved back to her home state where she’s been ever since. This is Ms. Davidson's 9th year as a school counselor but 1st year as a Mountain View Bear. She is excited to be part of the Mountain View family and looks forward to supporting the MVHS community!
9th Grade (Last names P-Z): Dr. Adrian Peterson
I’m originally from New York City. Georgia has been my home since 2006. I started my education career with the New York City public schools 32 years ago. I served as an elementary school teacher for 17 years before I became a school counselor. I had the pleasure of working as an elementary school counselor, middle school counselor, and for the past 10 years, as a high school counselor. When I’m asked which level of students do I prefer working with best, my response is always, “My passion is helping students so the level does not make a difference.” My favorite quote that I hold dear to my heart is by Madeline Hunter, “Kids don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” My goal is to build a relationship with every student that walks in my office. My favorite educator who inspires me is Ron Clark. I hope to be just like him when I grow up. (smile) My favorite motivational speaker is Inky Johnson. His testimony, courage, perseverance, and determination, has made an impact on my life. When I’m not working, you can catch me watching a basketball game. I’m a huge Atlanta Hawks fan. If I’m not at Philips Arena watching the game, I’m glued in front of my television. Let’s Go Hawks!
