Hurley Ranch Happenings

August 2020 Proud Home of the Stars!

Greetings!

Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians,

I hope everyone is healthy and hopeful for our next steps as a school and community. I appreciate all your efforts to ensure your child is participating in our online instruction. The Hurley Ranch staff has been diligent in their lesson planning as outlined in the Union Elementary School District Flexible Learning Framework. The framework emphasizes the importance of providing all the essential components to the learning experience of your child that they would typically receive in person.

Additionally, we are working hard to communicate with you to determine a scheduled time of your child's onsite testing. We have tested over 50% of our Super Stars and are on track to test over 700 students in less than four weeks. Our staff has exercised the necessary safety precautions and is meticulous in all aspects of our plan. The results from the beginning of the year (BOY) testing will be utilized by our teachers to inform their instruction and interventions.

Lastly, please contact the office if you have any questions or concerns. Your child's participation in our online services, which includes their core content, special area classes, social emotional learning, and testing are critical to their academic progress...we are here to help you!

Thank you,

Randy Watkins, Ed.D.

Principal

Hurley Ranch Elementary School

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to our Hurley Ranch Super Stars for being awarded a 21st Century Grant!

The 21st Century grant is a highly competitive grant that all reputable schools apply for with the understanding of the significant positive impact it has on a school and community. We are looking forward to leveraging the funds to expand our before and after school programming that will include project-based STEM fairs, interventions that are specific to the needs of our students, Reading and Math Programs, enrichment and extracurricular opportunities that are of high-interest to our students like dance, art, choir, and much more. Additionally, this will provide us the support and impetus to increase our community outreach. A big thank you to our Superintendent, Ms. Morris and the Director of Academic Services, Ms. Block for all their hard work on this endeavor.
