School District Closure Extended Through June 30, 2020

By order of the Ohio Health Department, the closure of school buildings, facilities, and activities has been extended through June 30. For the purpose of clarity, this closure includes all activities inside school buildings and on outside athletic facilities. It includes high school activities/sports all the way down through youth sports.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the election. The voting process was very different this year because of COVID-19. Despite the inconveniences and limitations, Elida residents showed their support for our school. The levy passed with a total of 60.59% yes and 39.41% no. These funds will help us with crucial expenses in the district for the next five years and brings no new or additional taxes to residents. THANK YOU, ELIDA!

Elementary Student Supplies Pick-Up: Next Week

The elementary will hold student supplies pick-up (locker items, etc.) on Wed., May 6th from 8-10 am and Thurs., May 7th 4-6 pm. Parents will drive through the front loop of the school and staff will bring their items to them. We ask that parents remain in their cars so we can all practice social distancing.

Middle School Locker Items Pick-up

Several students have contacted the schools about accessing items that were left in lockers. Due to restrictions from the health department, we will be placing items in lockers in bags. You may come to the middle school and pick up your bagged items in the front loop. The schedule is as follows:
  • 5th grade may pick up bagged items Tues., May 5 between 8am-11am.
  • 6th grade may pick up bagged items Tues., May 5 between 12pm-3pm.
  • 7th grade may pick up bagged items Thurs., May 7 between 8am-11am.
  • 8th grade may pick up bagged items Thurs., May 7 between 12pm-3pm.
  • PLEASE READ MORE INTRUCTIONS on the procedure for next week.

High School Locker Pick-up Schedule

Elida High School will be having pickup times to collect articles left in school lockers next week. Anything left in/on a school locker has been placed into a bag and labeled for easy retrieval. Due to restrictions from the health department and social distancing limitations, we will not be able to permit students to enter the building. This will require us to follow a process that has students pick up materials from an exterior location, the Athletic/Activities entrance. Locker items pick-up is scheduled for next week:

Freshmen Tues., May 5 - 8:30 – 11 a.m.

Sophomores: Tues., May 5 – 12:00 – 2:30 p.m.

Juniors: Thurs., May 7 – 8:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Seniors: Thurs., May 7 – 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m

Student Woodworking Project

Our students are not letting COVID-19 get in the way of projects. Jeremy Stemen, a sophomore in Construction Technologies, built this Canvas Rocking Chair out of Red Oak. He had started this project in class before the school shut down. He was able to get the project parts from Mr. Amstutz a few weeks ago, all the rest of the material, and he was able to finish his woodworking project on his own! He had some help from an uncle with the tools, but he still took the initiative and got it done. This is great, Jeremy. Even though school buildings is closed, the hands-on learning is not! Thanks to Mr. Amstutz, too.
