Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences
The second round of conferences will be held on Friday, September 30 from 8:00am-11:30am in the SMCHS Commons. Parents and students are invited to meet with teachers to discuss grades and other classroom concerns. Appointments are not needed. The conferences are set up “cafeteria style,” where teachers are set up at tables in the Commons and parents and students meet with them as they are available. If possible, please have you child's class schedule with you. We look forward to seeing you there!
All School Mass / Service Day
We are excited to introduce a new tradition to homecoming week. SMCHS will host an all-system Mass on the morning of Friday, October 7. High School students will report to their first hour class at 9:00am. Mass begins at 9:30am.
Following Mass, we will have a school-wide service day. All high school students are required to complete three hours of service on this day. Students were sent a link to sign up for several school and parish service opportunities. They may schedule there own service location, but must list where they will perform the service in the sign up.
If your child will not be in school/mass on Friday, October 7, please email Mrs. Fields with a pre-arranged absence. Please refer to the SMCS Co-curricular Code of Conduct regarding sport participation and absences.

Freshman Homecoming Dinner
All freshman are invited to dinner at Butte des Morts Country Club prior to the homecoming dance. Please use this link for details and to sign-up. The cost is $30 and the deadline to sign up is Friday, September 30. The dinner does not include the ticket to the dance. Dance tickets are available to purchase during the school day. Thank you to Mrs. Auer for taking the lead in organizing the inclusive and welcoming event.

School-Wide Testing
Wednesday, October 12 will be a school-wide testing day:
- Juniors will test in the morning, taking the PSAT or Pre-ACT 11. Students will arrive at the high school at 7:45am and will be dismissed at approximately 12:00pm.
- Seniors will arrive at 8:00am. We will provide presenters and college application assistance. Please see the counseling section below for more details.
- Freshman and Sophomores will test in the afternoon, taking the Pre-ACT 9 or Pre-ACT 10. Students must be at school by 11:30am and will be dismissed at 3:12pm.
- International Students are not testing and do not need to attend school on that day. Because it is excused, they still can particapte in afternoon/evening activities/sports.
**Lunch will be served in the commons from 11:10am-12:00pm. Busing will be at the usual time.

Attendance--Appointments
Please let the school office know prior to the school day if your child has an appointment so a pass can be issued before school. Last minute notifications are difficult and interruptive to class. If possible, please make appointments before or after school or on school days off.

SMC News Update—is the bi-weekly high school e-newsletter published bi-weekly. You will receive an email notification when the new issue posts.
Big East Conference Website – Lists all athletic practices and competitions for our schools. You can also sign up for instant notification via text or email of any changes to schedules. You can also choose sports and activities to download to your calendar.
SMCHS Daily Announcements-- A copy of the announcements that are prepared for students and read each morning in school. The students also receive an emailed link to these important announcements each day.

Financial Aid Presentation for Parents
Senior parents are invited to attend a Financial Aid presentation with their student at 8:00am in the FAEC on Wednesday, October 12.
Counselor Meetings by Grade Level
Seniors: Counselors met with the senior class on September 6 & 14 and seniors were emailed a link to sign up for a 30 minute conference with their counselor. Parents are welcome to join in-person or virtually and students were asked to notify their parents of the meeting date/time. Handouts are available in Naviance.
Juniors: Counselors will meet with all juniors and their parents for individual planning conferences December - January. Parents will receive an email from Mrs. Hall with sign up information and may join virtually or in person.
Understanding the Financial Aid Process
Ripon College will be hosting two Financial Aid Nights. The in-person event will be held on Wednesday, October 19 from 6-7:15 pm. Campus tours will be offered so please register soon. A Virtual Financial Aid Night will be held on Tuesday November 8 from 6-6:45pm. For those who do not attend either event, they have provided a video series for families beginning the FAFSA process:

Lab Discovery Nights
Concordia University WI School of Pharmacy is hosting Lab Discovery Nights on Thursday, October 13 and Thursday, November 17 from 6pm-7:30pm. These free lab nights provide hands-on experience in their pharmacy lab for high school students considering science, healthcare, or pharmacy majors. Register here.
October 12 Activities for Grade 12
While students in other grades are testing, there will be a Financial Aid Presentation from 8:00am-9:00am. Parents are welcome to attend this segment--watch for an email with details. In addition, a university admissions representative will be here with SMC counselors for a Senior Workshop. Topics will include applications, navigating the UW System, Common App, applying with audition portfolios, doing research, taking inventories/surveys, completing resumes, and searching for scholarships. Mr. Rudd will then address the importance of including a faith community in post-secondary plans.

AP Exams
AP exam registration for yearlong courses will take place in the fall. Test order forms will be distributed by AP teachers during classes in October. Testing fees are $97 per test. Tests for AP classes which begin in the Spring will be ordered in the Spring. Watch for details.
