LMS Tiger Talk
March 18, 2022
#EveryTigerEveryDay
Principal’s Message
We hope you all have caught up on your sleep after losing an hour last weekend. The sunshine and longer days have been pretty wonderful this week! We kicked off the 4th quarter at LMS on Monday having our students create their 4th quarter plans and goals and also starting to get their Chromebooks ready for state testing which begins Weds, April 6th after Spring Break. As usual, we are rocking and rolling here at LMS!
Next week will be a fun one for our students as we conclude our Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Students of the Year fundraising efforts here at school. We'll have spirit days all week (details below), Kona Ice will be here on Tuesday, and we'll have a pep assembly to end the day on Friday where some teachers will be taking a pie in the face and students will face off for a half-court shot competition all for the good cause. Thanks to the Student Council for their organization of this campaign and to all our students, staff, and families for their support of our fundraising efforts.
One final chance to get your yearbook as TODAY is the LAST day to place an order for the 21-22 LMS yearbook. Don't miss out on the memories! Information on how to order online can be found below.
Last week, we teased you about an exciting announcement on an upcoming Tiger Up! student incentive opportunity for students this spring. We announced to our students this morning that we have an incentive field trip to Kings Island set for April 29th! To qualify to go, students will need to meet academic and behavior criteria which are detailed down below. We're excited to take ALL of our students on this fun and rewarding opportunity (as we know all of our students can do this!)
Have an awesome weekend, friends. Go Tigers!

Pre-Algebra Scavenger Hunt
Students applied their knowledge of transformations with a scavenger hunt in Mrs. William's Pre-Algebra class this week. Tough concept but these kids are smart!
Thanks, Coach Jenkins!
This week the LMS running program said goodbye to a legend, Coach Jenkins. Coach is headed to Arizona to be closer to his son. He has been a tremendous asset to the XC and track programs. We thank Coach Jenkins for all he has done for our students and wish him the best!

Second Step Social Emotional Learning
At LMS and across Loveland Schools, we want every child to be successful in school and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, handle strong emotions, and get along with others.
This week, LMS students continue with social-emotional learning through the Second Step program, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, impulse control, problem-solving, and empathy.
Through our Tiger Talk, with the purpose of providing this information with our families, we will be communicating “Family Connections” regularly to communicate the social-emotional learning topic and summary as well as a potential question to ask your child at home to continue the learning and connection.
7th Grade SEL Second Step Family Connections
8th Grade SEL Second Step Family Connections
If you have any questions about the Second Step program at LMS, please do not hesitate to contact Kim Shafer, LMS counselor, for more information. Ms. Shafer can be reached at shaferki@lovelandschools.org.

LIS Science Day, Thursday, March 24th
Thank you to all who are volunteering as presenters for LIS science day!
We now need a volunteer in each homeroom to help that presenter. You might help distribute materials, give a 5 minute warning before time is up, clean up, help set up lunch, etc. Ideally, we would love for you to stay from 8 am until 2 pm (probably done earlier) and lunch will be provided. If you can't stay the entire time, please comment with when you are available. Thank you!
