CARLSON COURIER
Home of the Champions
Greetings Champions,
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! One of Dr. King's famous quotes seems more fitting today than ever. He said, "If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl, but by all means, keep moving." I think this encapsulates the way we make progress when everything around us seems to be closing in or caught in a revolving cycle. As long as we keep moving and don't stop or give up, no matter how difficult things get we will arrive at a better place than where we were. Well, these past two weeks have taught us that we still have to move forward despite the unprecedented volume of cases and the speed at which they are coming. This weekend the building was closed so hospital grade disinfectant could be used to thoroughly disinfect high touch points and affected classrooms. We will continue to increase cleaning and reinforce hygiene, spacing as best we can and encourage mask wearing until things start to slow down. Also, if your child isn't feeling well and it seems mild please keep them home. Thank you for your patience and support with this. Hopefully, we will see a downturn this week and be able to get back to all the normal things we should be doing in stead of managing staffing and mitigation strategies.
Last week we have a few things to celebrate. First was, Carlson's own Maria Parada Ortega qualified for the Regional Spelling Bee as she placed in the top 6 from our district. Then we had our first Running Club race in almost two years! Our Champions did very well and lead in many of the races. A big thank you to Ms. Johnson, Barten and Sawyer for their leadership and to our parent volunteers for being such a great help making this event such a success. Then we celebrated the 100th day of school. By the looks of some of our Kinders they have aged quite a bit since starting school back in July. And we finished the week celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his work for civil rights.
Coming up this week we have Kindergarten open house Tuesday night for all incoming and prospective Kindergarten students for the 2022-23 school year. Also, Tuesday after school there is a Battle of the Books Battle in the media center. Good luck to all our participants. And drama club practice has been moved to Thursday after school due to the MLK holiday.
Well, here's to a great week and a slow down in new covid cases. At least this time the symptoms being reported are very mild and students can return after 5 days and wear a mask for 5 if they are feeling better. Thank you and have a great week!
Gratefully,
Mr. Morgan
a count as possible. Thank you.
