Message From Ms. Riddle
Hello Lion Families!
I am so excited to continue to support and add onto the great things that have been happening thus far at TLA during the TLA 2022-2023 school year. Spirit week was fun from start to finish! It was great to see our spirit week grow in magnitude via events, participation, and overall spirit. The combo pep rally and staff vs. teacher volleyball game was an ABSOLUTE hit! Please check out our Facebook page as well as a few highlight pics below to see the TLA spirit unfold.
Literacy night is just around the corner! K4-3rd grade families are asked to join us on Wednesday, October 26, from 5-6 pm for fun stories, quick crafts, and tasty treats. Each grade level will be showcasing a special book to explore and families will have a chance to enjoy two different themes within the hour. Bring a slightly used book to exchange for a different book. We hope to see you there!
Fall Dress-up Day will be Thursday, October 27. Scholars may come dressed up in their costume of choice for the entire day. Mask may be worn during morning assembly, recess, and during our end of day parade. Face paint is permitted, however no blood, weapons, or overtly scary costumes will be allowed.

Awesome Academics
This week in Animal Science, Silver, the chicken came to visit! High School animal science is collaborating with Ms. Samuelson's 4K to study the development and growth of chickens. They have been incubating eggs that were donated by Ms. Wilson's farm. On Tuesday scholars candled the eggs to determine how many of the eggs were fertile. It looks like we will have six or seven chicks in about twelve days!
Shout out to the Physical Science Module 1 “A” Team: Yashmilet C., Madison F., Olivia F., Theresa N., Saraphine S., Gavin S.!
Middle School is Growing to Great
We have kicked off a new era in middle school! We are “Growing to Great” with increased scholar recognition and support. Starting Monday, middle school scholars will have daily grade-level assemblies, compete for positive class points, celebrate infraction-free Fridays, and work their way towards earning a bowling trip in late November. In addition, to support our progress towards rigorous academics, character development, career exploration, we will be instituting silent lunches to coincide with infractions.
Monthly Virtue - Cooperation
This week, encourage your child with a positive statement every morning that boosts their confidence and prepares them to use cooperation skills throughout their day. Protect time in the evening to review how they used cooperation skills during the day.

Scholars in Welding, Med Term, and Animal Science are earning both high school and college credit while taking dual credit courses at TLA. These college level courses help prepare scholars for post-secondary education and saves them money down the road when they are in college.
