Congrats to Nevin Harwood who continues to impress as he travels the country for the local rowing club. Two weeks ago they took several boats to the Head of the Charles in Boston. Remember how much you loved seeing toys under your Christmas tree or during Hanukkah as a child? Unfortunately, many children are not in homes that can provide even one toy this year. NHS has sponsored 10 local kids to make sure they get to have presents to open this holiday season. Collection boxes for new toys and games are by the front and west side doors. Let’s continue the caring work we do here at Clark and fill those boxes before December 1.
If you are worried that your family will not be able to have gifts for Christmas or Hanukkah, see Ms. Jones as she has ways to make sure your family is taken care of at the holidays, too!
If you would like help with your writing, a tutor from the ASC will be available at Clark on Tuesdays after school for the 3 Tuesdays after break. Let your English teacher know if you would like to get some extra help from her or email ljudd@irsc.edu

Make a Difference Mondays! Today we want to recognize the dedicated students who volunteered throughout the weekend at the air show. Sienna Perez, Delaney Dyer, Colter Kendall, Callahan Kendall, Bella Gonzalez, Michael Edmondson, Eddie Milner, Mauricio Villalba, and Ethan Borlaug. Many community volunteers did not even show up, but these students did! And even worked extra!
Take Care Tuesdays! There are many types of rest needed to take care of ourselves. We mentioned sensory rest a couple of weeks ago and today we will focus on emotional rest. Examples of emotional rest include: meditation, vacations or getaways, exercising, getting into routines, and sinly doing things you enjoy to de-stress. Here’s hoping everyone will take some time for rest next week.
Way to Go Wednesdays! Today we recognize Matt Foust. Bright and early this morning, Dr. Judd needed help moving a table and Matt willingly assisted with a friendly smile and positive energy. Thanks, Matt!
Thankful Thursdays! Kimberly wants to express her gratitude for the random cookie sharing from Sadie yesterday. Sometimes it’s the smallest acts of kindness that brighten the day for someone. As we near Thanksgiving, make sure you let people know that you are grateful for them.
Fun Fact Fridays! In the spirit of the holiday, here are some fun facts about turkeys! Only male turkeys gobble. Turkeys make a variety of different sounds such as “purrs,” “yelps,” and “kee-kees,” but the “gobble” call is only done by males during mating season. As a result, male turkeys are called “gobblers” while females are called “hens.”
And something I am sure we all need to know, Their poop identifies their gender. Are they girls or boys? One certain way to find out is by checking their droppings. A male’s poop will be shaped like the letter J, while the female’s is more spiral-shaped.
Handbook Highlight- We are begging you to let us know when students must be off campus!
Advanced Notice for Excused Absence:
Requests for excused absences for high-school courses for family travel or vacation must be submitted in writing a minimum of two weeks in advance for Executive Director’s approval. Failure to obtain prior approval may result in unexcused absence(s).
Medical and dental appointments should be planned as to not conflict with a student’s class schedule. If conflict is unavoidable, a written note must be sent in advance to excuse the absence.
Excused Absences Students are required to attend each scheduled class on time, every day, unless the absence is excused. To have an absence excused, a parent/guardian must email, call, or send a written note into Student Services within two school days explaining the reason for absence and the specific dates and/or times to be excused. If an email/phone call/note is not received within two school days, the absence is unexcused and may affect the student’s grades or result in further intervention.
Notes are subject to verification by Student Services. The following are considered excused absences/tardiness:
· Illness of student or other medical emergency (a doctor’s statement may be required)
· An accident resulting in bodily injury to the student
· A death in the immediate family of the student
· Observance of a religious holiday or religious instruction as requested in writing by the parent/guardian
· A subpoena by a law enforcement agency or for deposition or court appearance
· Participation in academic, vocational, or non-instructional activities that have been pre-approved by Clark administration
· Other significant circumstances as determined by Clark administration in accordance with State laws.
And how about:
Driver’s License Law: The Florida Legislature enacted requirements (Section 322.091, F.S.) that students who attain the age of 14 and accumulate 15 unexcused absences in a period of 90 calendar days be ineligible to receive or maintain driving privileges.
