Son of William and Grace Skinner, and brother of Edward Skinner who died at age 16 from cerebral aneurysm

Attended Hamilton College (1926) then attended Harvard University (1931)

Contribution

Behaviorism focuses on learning through rewards and observations. Also behaviorism were more objective and scientific in its methods, but now most behaviorists today recognize the significance of studying mental processes.

Facts

In 1945, he became chair of the Psychology Department at the University of Indiana.

In 1943 Skinner designed the "baby tender", a crib that was designed safer than a normal crib.

August 18, 1990, Skinner died from Leukemia.
