Principal's Message

Dear Walker Families,

The first nine weeks have been a huge success! The staff and students are working hard every day! We are very proud of the things happening at Walker. Report Cards will go home with students on Tuesday, October 23rd. The EAST program has transitioned from a new classroom full of boxes to students learning to use the latest technology to find ways to support community needs. Walker parents are now working and learning at school four days a week in the Springdale Family Literacy Program which was just added this year.

I would like to personally say thank you for your support of Walker PTA. Currently, Walker PTA has 267 memberships. PTA is preparing for Boo Bingo Night which will be on October 29th and will include, food, bingo, and a silent auction. You can help to support Walker PTA by donating items for the silent auction and/or attending this event.

If you are interested in volunteering at the school, please give us a call or send me an email! Volunteers are always welcome on campus and we know that because of our volunteers we are able to do more for our students.

There are many exciting things happening in October so be sure to check the dates below in the "Week at a Glance" box. Facebook is regularly updated with events and pictures of things happening at the school each day. Be sure to follow our Facebook page. Remind 101 is used send out text messages to remind families of special events that are happening at school.

Safety is always a concern and priority. As we look at our procedures, I would like to remind our families of a few things that we need your help on during visits to school and dismissal from school.

  • During the day visitors to the school will need to check in at the office and have your ID scanned. Our scanner will print a photo name badge for you to wear during your visit.
  • If you are NOT a pre-k parent, you must use the front car line and have a car tag to pick up students. For student safety, please do not walk to the car line to pick up students. Remember the cell phone law, NO CELL PHONES IN THE CAR LINE.
  • All Pre-k parents must bring your orange tag in with you at dismissal if you are picking up students in K-5.

Thank you again for supporting our efforts in teaching and learning, and thank you for being our partner for your child's education. Your support is what makes Walker an amazing place to learn.

Lynn Ryan,

Principal
