Sheridan Newsletter 4.28.23
April 28, 2023
A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan families,
Who doesn’t love a good party?! Joy was in the air last night as our Sharks in every grade celebrated their learning and special projects. It’s always a whirlwind of excited kids, photo ops, and rushing about to point out each-and-every special person who makes coming to school so fun every day! Didn’t the school look AMAZING?! We are so proud of our Sharks and all they have accomplished this year. Thank you for spending part of your evening with us!
SPARK Readers
Today’s SPARK Readers’ book, I Walk With Vanessa by Kerascoӫt, explored concepts about kindness, standing up for others, empathy, and friendship. We loved how the sweetly-illustrated wordless pages inspired critical thinking and problem solving as the students contributed to the discussion. Each child is bringing home a “shoe” to complete at home. Please return them to add to our bulletin board in the front hall.
Field Day volunteer Sign-up
Field Day is just around the corner and we need your help making this a fun-filled day for our students. Field Day will take place at Sheridan on Thursday, June 1st from 12:30-2:30 pm. Visit this link to see descriptions of the activities, games and sign up to help: https://signup.com/go/vaVqQeP Volunteer check-in starts at 12:30 and the games begin at 1:00! Thank you in advance for making this event a success!
ACES Walk
On Wednesday, May 3rd at 10:00am, we will participate in the ACES walk! ACES stands for “All Children Exercise Simultaneously.” This is a school-wide event, and parents are invited to join us! Please see the MAP of the route we will take. We invite you to “jump in” when your child’s class begins their route on Spruce. We begin with 4th graders and go in descending age. (Early Childhood students will simply walk a loop on Spruce.) With our limited parking, please WALK here if you can, or park on Spruce east of Sheridan Road.
Exploration Day
Our APT parents are putting the final touches on the plan for Exploration Day, coming up on Friday, May 12 in the AFTERNOON. This is truly one of the most anticipated events of the year! Please see the APT section below if you would like to volunteer and help.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Susan
