Teachers do have until the 24th to make that final contact with you. We appreciate your patience.
(Teachers are NOT working August 17-21 per their contract duty days with PBCSD.)
Google Classroom
Getting Students ready for Technology
- Students are encouraged to know what a keyboard is (different from a touchscreen)
- Students should know how to use a mouse (different from a trackpad and touchscreen)
- Students should be familiar with using headphones
- Students are encouraged know that the "shift" key makes capital letters (they will need this for their usernames and passwords)
- Students could use practice with typing (at least their first name)
- Students should be familiar with using a camera on a device
- Students should be familiar with muting themselves.
Teacher Office Hours: 2-2:30 pm daily
- Begins Monday, August 31st
- ALL Teachers will host their Office Hours daily from 2:00-2:30 pm unless they have a PLC, Team Meeting, or Faculty Meeting (you'll be notified in advance if they are not available)
- Office Hours are for a quick-check, question, clarification
- Office Hours are not for conferences or reteaching lessons
Preparing for Distance Learning
- Does your child have a specific place in the home where he/she can learn?
- Does your child have a working computer with camera? If not, please make sure you fill-out the survey at the top of the e-news.
- Does your child know how to navigate a keyboard, use a mouse, mute him/herself, or even turn on the camera function?
- Does your child need a quiet area or can he/she be among others while learning?
Routine is KEY!
- Set a daily wake-up time just like he/she was going to go to school
- Consider dressing in the school uniform to assist in the structure of a school ay
- Set a daily breakfast/lunch/snack time
- Set a daily schedule according to the schedule your child's teacher provides
- Set a daily routine to participate in brain breaks such as our amazing Fine Arts Classes
No Additional HW while in Distance Learning
- Students will participate in all learning activities during the day with their teacher(s) and/or classmates.
- If a child does not finish his/her work from the school day, then he/she will need to complete it before the next school day.
- If a child is absent, then he/she will need to make-up the work within 24 hours.
- As a school, we have made the decision to not assign additional Homework while we are in 100% Distance Learning.
- We will discuss HW again when we return to brick & mortar in Stage 2.

Attendance Taken at 8 am
- Attendance will be taken daily at 8 am when your child signs-on for their Morning Meeting.
- Attendance is MANDATORY and will be kept in our SIS system.
- Scheduled calls will be made after 10 am for anyone who is absent.
- Teachers will keep a record of student participation throughout the day to know who is working on their standards and showing what they know.
- If your child is not attending regularly, then your child's teacher will reach out to schedule a 1:1 conference.
Google Meet Expectations
- The lessons provided during live lessons are so important.
- Students are expected to abide by Google Meet Expectations (see image).
- Teachers will record their whole group lessons and post those recordings in their own Google Classrooms.
Additional PE
- Students will have PE during their Fine Arts rotation, but then they will have an additional PE time in the day.
- The homeroom teacher will provide some videos for students to do during this extra PE time.
- The PE on the Fine Arts rotation is required and reported on the SDPBC report card each trimester.
