Stan Muisal
Stan the Man
A Life Time of Change
Stan Musial was born on November, 21 1920 in Donora, Pennsylvania. His full name was Stanislaus Francis Musial. Stan was a left handed kid who people knew would be successful in life. Stan’s family changed his name to Stanley Frank Musial at around the age of eight. Their family was poor when Stan was young because of the Great Depression Stan’s dad lost his job then. Instead of real baseballs his mom would make baseballs out of scraps from their trash. Stan loved baseball so much he wanted to be a MLB player when he grew up. Before Stan’s dad (his name was Lukasz) lost his job, their main source of money was the wire company he worked at. When Stan went into high school he played baseball and basketball Stan was also the first in his family to go to college. Stan and his wife Lillian Labash had three kids Richard, Janet and Jean. At the age of 92 Stan died January, 19 2013 of natural causes but he didn’t give up when it was hard.

The Man Under the Jersey
Stan was competitive the reasons I think he is competitive are, you have to be competitive to play baseball and it’s just a competitive sport in general so you have to be competitive when you play. He even said “I am competitive”. Stan was also very loyal to the cardinals he said “I love putting on this uniform” he played with them for 24 years and then after he played 24 years he became their manager.
