A note from our Administration
Dear SKSD Alternative Education students and families,
Happy SPRING BREAK to each and every one of you! We hope this is a time for rest, connection, and preparation! Our staff are getting everything in order for a return to school, so they will be unplugging next week so they can be energized and recharged when your students arrive on April 13th!
There is no news and no events over Spring Break (March 22-26), but you can see the plan for the last 2 weeks of Quarter 3 below. Enjoy the time away and we will see you when we get back!

Return to School Email to families
In Alternative Education we are working to identify schedules, processes and systems for how this will look in our smaller programs. We will send our own program-based communication in the coming weeks, and will update you in this Newsletter as well.
We will host a VIRTUAL Family Information Night on Tuesday, April 6th at 7pm to go over schedules, protocols, and what to expect from in-person learning. Interpretation for Spanish will be included. We will send the link via email, Remind, and include it in our next Newsletter.
Important Dates to know:
Monday, April 5th:
No student support Monday- all staff will be in buildings preparing for students to return
Tuesday, April 6th - Wednesday April 7th:
Last days of Quarter 3 classes
TUESDAY APRIL 6th at 7pm we will have a Family Information Night on the return to school. We will sent email and Remind communication and include a Zoom link in our next newsletter.
Thursday, April 8th and Friday, April 9th:
NO SCHOOL for students, teachers grading and planning days- End of Quarter 3
Monday, April 12th:
No school for students, teachers preparing for return to school
Week of April 13th:
Beginning of Quarter 4: All students will return to school on limited schedules. Communication will come from schools on days/times to attend
ELPA Testing is HERE!
ELPA testing is an important assessment of student progress and proficiency in the English Language. The ELPA indicates service levels, interventions, and even completion of ELD programming and is important to come in and complete.
ELPA testing is taking place at our State Street Campus (3620 State St SE). All safety and physical distancing requirements apply. The test takes -5 hours to complete, and testers will need to come for 2 hour sessions, so plan on 2-3 appointments to complete the assessment.

For students who are coming into our buildings for testing or LIPI
Students who are invited back to campus for academic support, LIPI, or testing have been slated for a specific time based on local health and safety rules.
Please work with your student and our staff to ensure that your student is attending on their scheduled days and times. Students who arrive early may not be able to enter the building until their allotted time.
If you student is scheduled to come in, but is not feeling well, please call us and let us know if you are keeping them home. Please reference the resource below to determine when to keep your student home:
