Why You Should Attend Curriculum Fairs/Nights
Curriculum fairs are the best opportunity you will have to see up close what your child's high school has to offer.
This is what you will see at curriculum fairs/nights.
- Orientation/Info Session for "Rising 9th Graders
- Sports Offered and Coaches
- Art, Drama and Band Teachers
- Career and Technology Teachers
- Teachers from Each Subject Taught at the School
Registration for High School
All rising 9th graders must register for classes at the high school they have been assigned to. This is based on the student's address. Even if your child has applied for an early/middle college or academy program, he or she must be registered for their zone high school. If your child is accepted for the program he or she applied to, registration paperwork will be transferred after enrollment is complete. Typically, letters of acceptance begin to arrive after Spring Break.
High School Planning Conferences
Please schedule your child's high school planning conference with Mrs. Eldridge. The purpose of the conference is to develop an individual graduation plan for your child. Students will choose courses for all 4 years that are aligned with a career interest. You can contact Mrs. Eldridge by email at eldridc@gcsnc.com or by phone 819-2900. If your child is planning to apply for High School Options, please contact Mrs. Eldridge as soon as possible to schedule a conference.
