PALCS MLK Day of Service K-5

PALCS Elementary: January 18th, 2016

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Today, Monday, January 18, 2016, the United States recognizes the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. To honor Dr. King’s legacy, the entire PALCS community is working together to address a variety of needs and serving others. A positive contribution towards your community is invaluable and can provide benefits for both you and the organization you choose to help. You can also consider continuing the service or volunteering you provide for the MLK Day of Service so that it becomes a weekly or monthly event.

How Can You Serve?

Serve at Home & in Your Community

To help you get started, here are a few ideas. You can volunteer to provide service at the following places:
  • community center, theater or library
  • hospital or retirement home
  • park, church or youth organization
  • day care center, public school or after-school program
  • food bank or soup kitchen
  • animal shelter

Sharing Your Service

In the forum, share how you served others today. If you attended one of the PALCS event, you can share what you did, learned or enjoyed. Feel free to include pictures for your classmates to see.
