A Message from the Principal,
Sailor Families,
We are really finding our groove at Bay Harbor both in-person and virtually. I continue to be humbled and proud of the work of the teachers, students and our families. “All Hands on Deck” continues to be our theme and the way we need to do things for all of this to keep working so well. I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some just in time updates.
Covid-19 Protocols
The protocols regarding Covid-19 are constantly evolving. Here are some big takeaways from the first weeks of school:
Students should continue to rotate face coverings and ensure they are getting cleaned.
Students with any covid symptoms should remain home until symptom free.
Continue to utilize the attendance line 662-8888 to report absences as well as symptoms. The office or a nurse will follow up as needed.
Students at school who show a major covid symptom (Cough, Shortness of breath, new loss of taste or smell) OR shows two or more covid-19 symptoms (sore throat, body aches, fatigue, runny nose. nausea/vomiting, headache, diarrhea, fever) will be sent home and must remain home for: 10 days unless a negative covid-19 test OR a doctor’s note is sent in. *Health care providers need to be contacted when a student is sent home.
If anybody in the household is awaiting Covid-19 results, all members of the family must remain in quarantine until a negative test result.
Use the Covid-19 hotline that is 24-7 anytime you feel the situation arises (662-7233)
Please continue to stay in touch with our school/office anytime by calling 662-8800. We are here to help and support.
We all understand that these protocols may put you and your family in difficult situations without much warning BUT they are put in place to reduce the spread and to keep our buildings open. Each district, work place, sports teams, etc. have very similar sets of protocols for the same reason. When a child will be out 10-14 days, we will work with you to provide distance learning opportunities utilizing the Seesaw learning platform.
Arrival and Dismissal
Things are really going well with this! Thank you for your partnership in making such a smooth transition to things. I appreciate you. As a reminder, please do not drop students off before 8:20 as that is the first bell and when we will open doors. 8:35 is the start of school. Students will be dismissed when you arrive or by bus beginning at 3:15 with the end of the day bell being at 3:30. Please use the attendance line for any end of the day pick-up messages OR call the office if the need to speak with a person arises.
Virtual Learners
To all of my virtual learning students out there...I miss you. Now that we are getting through many of the “beginning of year things” that completely take my attention and time, please know that I will work to connect with you and join in on the work you are doing. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to learning in this new virtual environment. We are very lucky to have such great learning options during these times. I also very much appreciate the work that our virtual teachers are doing. Thank you to Mrs. Blahnik (K-1), Mrs. DeTennis (2-3) and Mrs. Brandt / Ms. VanEgeren (4th grade). YOU are all appreciated!
Have a wonderful rest of your week, Sailor families!
United Together,
Tony Ebeling, Principal

Read T-shirt Sale - On now through Friday, October 2nd!
At Bay Harbor Elementary School we have a READ initiative. This read initiative is a HUGE part of the learning community at Bay Harbor Elementary. Our teachers work closely with your child to help them understand the importance of reading each day. We are giving you the opportunity to purchase a READ t-shirt again this year for your child. The cost is $10.00 each (2XL is $12.00).
On the 20th of every month (or on the 19th if the 20th falls on Saturday, or on the 21st if the 20th falls on a Sunday), we have a school-wide "READ 20". All students, teachers and staff come together as a community and read for 20 minutes.
On the day of our school-wide READ, we wear our READ 20 t-shirts.
FYI: These t-shirts tend to run small; you may want to order a larger size.

From your School Board, September 2020
Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting
This year the Howard-Suamico Board of Education will hold its public Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting on September 28, 6:00 p.m. in the District Office Community Training Center, 2706 Lineville Road, Suamico. In addition, the Superintendent will present a State of the District address.
We have been asked on occasion about the purpose of these meetings which are also referred to as Meetings of the Electors. State Law requires school districts across Wisconsin to hold a Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting each year. There are legal requirements surrounding these events, but school officials have long recognized this event as an opportunity for the community and the school district to connect, to communicate, and to reach greater understanding. School administrators and board members provide focus on achievements, needs and the future of the district. Community members are presented with information about the operations of the school district, are able to ask questions, and will then vote on various motions.
On behalf of the Howard-Suamico School District, the Board of Education invites attendance and participation from district residents. Please consider joining us on Monday, September 28. Copies of the budget book will be available in the School District Office, 2706 Lineville Road, Green Bay, beginning September 18, 2020, and will be available at the meeting on September 28.
