What's Happening in our Classrooms??
Band
Last week, students put together a Halloween performance for teachers, staff and select classes! They learned some short "spooky" tunes that they played for their audience in their costumes on Thursday, October 28th. It was a great way to work on their nerves and stage fright in a low pressure environment. For many students, this is the first time they have ever performed for an audience so working on their presentation and jitters is part of the curriculum! We want to make sure they feel confident and prepared anytime they perform!
We have now transitioned to learning music for our Winter Concert! The event is on Thursday, December 5th at 5:00pm in the Burkholder Gymnasium. All students, parents and community members are invited to attend this free event and support our students!

No School for Students
There is also no school for students on Friday, November 12th.
Students in Grade 8 will be taking the PSAT on Thursday, November 18th.
The PSAT 8/9 for Grade 8 students is the first test in the SAT Suite of Assessments offered by the College Board. Tightly aligned with both the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) and the SAT, the PSAT 8/9 establishes a baseline for college and career readiness as students begin to transition to high school. The PSAT 8/9 will support all students with early feedback on the skills and knowledge that matter most for college and career success. This test is a pressure-free way for students to start exploring their path to college and a future career.
These results highlight students’ strengths and areas for improvement. Results from this test,
along with middle school recommendations, may be used to support student course enrollment.
The District PSAT 8/9 testing window will be held annually in November for all Grade 8 students to help inform high school course enrollment in the spring.
