Cougar "Prints"
Week of January 7
Tough Loss, but there is always next time
While a sleepless night was in store for me, I was able to put it all into perspective and tried to put myself in the Bears kicker's shoes. He prepared all year, had highs and lows, and failed to convert in the biggest game of his life - how heartbreaking for him and the team! As a life-long fan, I am devastated, but ultimately it is only a game in a sport - there are many people out there dealing with a lot more than a football game loss.
For the kicker, a professional kicker, that kick may end up defining his career, which is sad. He may go on to do great things or kick the game-winner in the next big game of his career, but we may never get an opportunity to do so.
While a career-defining moment does not lay in store for us at the end of this school year, what is ahead is persistence and the opportunity to finish the game strong. The next few months are going to be trying as they are each year. Remember, you are a professional - you plan - you execute - you rely on your team - and we win together.
Have a great week!
