This Week In PE
Dear Hill Roberts Parents and Families!
Thank you for your hard work and effort in reminding your Husky to wear sneakers and bring a water bottle on the days they have physical education class in the gym! I have been so impressed with all grades this year on staying healthy and learning new skills inside and outside of my class. For the months of September and October, we have been focusing on different types of throwing.
All grades started the year strong learning how to underhand throw correctly. In grades kindergarten and first grade, this was done by a game called Rainbow River, and in grades second through fourth, we had our first annual Bonza Ball Competition. During the competition grades second through fourth had a focus on sportsmanship along with the underhand throw, ending in a friendly competition between the classes in each grade level outside. It was enjoyable to see all of the classes outside participating in an activity together.
This week all grades have transitioned to practicing the overhand throw. We played a game called “Ghostbusters” where students had the opportunity to throw the ball at a moving target, and many found success during this activity and I, myself, was very impressed with the amount of moving targets the huskies were able to knock down! I am very proud and excited to continue to learn more skills that we can turn into games inside the gym!
Thank you,
Katia Andrade
