Lead Learner Highlights

Dear KP Families,

We've completed the second week of school and wonderful learning experiences. As we end the week, our thoughts turn to those in Florida and the Caribbean as they prepare for Irma. For those who have family members and friends affected by the storm, please know that the KP community is sending thoughts and hopes to those riding out the storm. Our amazing students are already identifying ways to support those who have been or may be impacted by Harvey, Irma and possibly Jose. I look forward to seeing how our community will Be the One to provide assistance and support.

Student Opportunities

The Unified Sports soccer season is quickly approaching

Join us this Sunday, September 10th from 5pm to 6:30pm at Sedgwick Middle School! See Mr. Gustafson or Ms. Condon in room 4 if you have any questions!

Unified Theater is back!

Is your child and actor? Does your child dance? Or create props? Are they free on Monday and Thursday afternoons? Encourage your child to attend the informational meeting on Monday, September 18th from 3:00 to 4:00pm in the small cafe to find out what it's all about!

Students who are already interested can pick up a registration packet and leadership form outside Room 4. See Ms. Condon in Room 4 or Dr. Foreman in Room 27A (next to nurses’ office) with any questions.

Vacant Seat Program – Application Start date is Monday, October 2, 2017

DATE: September 5, 2017

SUBJ: Vacant Seat Program

The West Hartford Public Schools vacant seat program utilizes available space on school buses. This program allows students to ride buses, where space is available, who under the West Hartford Public Schools Transportation policy are not eligible for transportation. No additional bus stops are added to the routes for this program.

Interested parents should contact the West Hartford Public Schools Transportation Office at (860)561-6647 for additional information on or after October 2nd. Requests are taken in this office by telephone on a first come, first served basis starting at 8:00 am.

Arrival Time to School

School Start Time: The first bell rings at 7:40 AM. Due to a lack of supervision, students are not permitted in the building before this time unless they have a scheduled meeting with a staff member.

Morning Drop Off: For the safety of our students and to expedite bus arrivals, we are reminding parents/caregivers to please drop off students in the circle at the Mohawk entrance at the back of the school. There will be adults there to usher them to their appropriate team area. Thank you.

Get Involved at KP -- Start with the PTO

"Public Act 16-189

We believe that it is vital for all students in West Hartford Public Schools to be able to efficiently and effectively use digital tools that empower them in all phases of the learning process, including research, problem solving, content creation, communication, and collaboration. We also believe that we must be committed at all times to protecting students' privacy and providing them with a powerful and safe educational experience. To that end, the West Hartford Public Schools follow the legal requirements of Public Act 16-189 to promote the safety and security of all students and staff.

In compliance with Connecticut State Law, we update online programs used within the district that house student data. The programs may be used district-wide, in a very small number of classrooms, or with individual students. The list will be updated each time the district enters into a new contract where student data is housed.
