Wrestling News

On 12/16-17/23 our Cougar Wrestlers traveled to St. Marks School of Dallas to compete in a high-level wrestling tournament. There were two schools from Oklahoma who brought some tough competition. Our kids dug deep and found the necessary grit to be successful.

We have a motto that we use in wrestling... "OTP". The acronym meaning is Off the Porch... In the country a hunting dog doesn't need a pep talk to be ready to chase the game. They are ready to go right off the porch. Our wrestlers carry the same mentality. We want to be in the mindset to win, once the whistle blows.

Special honors go to Trishtan Willis, who finished 4th over all in the 190 weight class and Tavares Hamilton who finished top 6 in the 150 weight class. Im honored to witness their growth in the sport of wrestling. #CougarWrestling

The Cougar boys' soccer teams return to classes yesterday with perfect records after the first week of matches.

The teams kicked off their respective seasons with victories at Southwest on Friday, Dec. 30.

In the opening match, the JV Boys played hard and came out victorious, 2-1. Roman Mtambala scored the opening goal of the match. After the Raiders tied things up, Mike Muhindo put the Cougars ahead for good with a “gol Olímpico,” scoring directly off of a corner kick.

Omar Banda put in a heroic, man-of-the-match effort to lead the defense.

The Varsity Boys, meanwhile, rallied twice from one-goal deficits to secure a season-opening victory. Guadalupe Hernández and Tony Medina each scored after the Cougars fell behind by 1-0 and 2-1 scores. Wilondja Ebula slotted home a penalty kick just before halftime to put the Cougars ahead to stay, and Emmanuel Nshimiyimana made it 4-2 in the second half before the Raiders scored one last goal.

Then on Tuesday, the teams both recorded 5-0 victories in their respective home openers.

The JV Boys got goals from Oscar Caraveo, Roman Mtambala and Bryan Vasquez before a late brace from Esdras Arreaga secured the rout. Landon Cox and Aaron Nava combined on the shutout, and Uriel Bravo bossed the midfield in a man-of-the-match performance while nearly scoring on a header off a corner kick.

The Varsity Boys closed out the night with a dominant performance in a 5-0 victory. Guadalupe “Fuser” Roman opened the scoring, and Anthony Juanes made it 2-0 shortly thereafter. Yeshua Muhindo added a third, and two goals from Emmanuel Nshimiyimana closed out the scoring. Leonel Muñoz recorded his first Varsity shutout, with strong contributions from the backline of Anthony Perez, Hakizimana Changwe, Daniel Msenga and Cruz Hernandez.

The teams will put their perfect records on the line tonight here at Western Hills. The JV Boys will play South Hills at 6pm, and the Varsity Boys will face Godley at 7:30pm.
