From the Principal’s Desk
Greetings Shiloh Families,
Thank you for your love and support. We cannot level up and succeed towards meeting our attendance, behavioral, and course performance goals without you. I need every member in this village to become actively engaged in your scholars' school career. It starts by becoming informed. This newsletter is designed for you. Therefore, it is important to read it from beginning to end. There is truly something different in each publication. Just like last week, you may have missed a week receiving a new publication. There will be some months, when the newsletter will be distributed tri-monthly or bi-monthly, and not weekly, especially when we want to make sure specific information is provided.
As we level up with our family and community engagement, we want to say Thank You to our school council members for a great first meeting on September 16. Thank you, parents, and guardians, for your attendance yesterday at the kickoff of our Title I Meet the Principal and Tech Table Talk series. We offered a hybrid session at 11:30 AM, and a virtual option at 6:00 PM. If you missed this informative session, please be sure to join us for our next session in the upcoming month. This series will support you in supporting our efforts of "modeling excellence every day"!
We want our students, school, and community to shine bright like a diamond, so it will take our time, talent, heart, and financial resources for us to get there.
Remember, we would like to have 100% PTSA membership. One goal is to have the funds to tangibly show our teachers how much we value and appreciate them. Your membership will support these efforts.
Additionally, while breakfast and lunch will be provided at no charge for all GCPS students this school year, it still pays to complete the Free and Reduced-price Meal Application. The percentages of qualifying students at a school are used as a measure to secure additional federal funding (Title I) to support students and their education, promote family engagement, and provide additional technology and internet access. Title I funds pay for additional teachers, Parent Centers, additional learning opportunities for students!

You Would Not Want to Miss This Tour--There is One Date and Location Remaining for You to Attend!
This fall, the Gwinnett County Board of Education will go on the road, meeting once in each Board member’s district. At this year’s Area Board Meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Gwinnett County Public Schools’ new superintendent, Dr. Calvin J. Watts, and members of the Gwinnett County Board of Education. During the meeting, Dr. Watts will share information about the new school year and his focus as he begins leading Georgia’s largest school district. In addition, meeting participants will learn more about the district’s work to engage the community and will be able to provide input through an online survey to share topics that are of interest to them.
Please note that interpreters will be available at all meetings to assist attendees who speak Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, or Chinese.
- Tuesday, Oct. 5— District V meeting, hosted by Dr. Tarece Johnson, at McClure Health Sciences HS
Stream Area Board Meetings
Unable to attend any of the scheduled Area Board meetings? Join us online! The meetings will be streamed live on GCPS TV and on the GCPS TV app. The mobile app is available for these devices: Apple, Android, Amazon Fire, and the Roku Channel. In addition, each meeting will be recorded and available to view on the website
The Area Board Meetings are organized to host students, families, and staff members from school communities located in each Board member’s electoral district. The physical location of the school determines which Area Board Meeting each school is designated to attend. However, citizens may attend any one of the five meetings. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the host school’s theater, with a Board Governance Team Meet and Greet beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Masks are required for all students, families, staff, and community members attending events in GCPS facilities. For the Area Board Meetings, seating will be limited to accommodate the need for physical distancing under COVID-19 mitigation strategies. However, citizens can watch the meetings live on GCPS TV.
