Early Childhood Chess Curriculum

The Authority in Early Childhood Chess

Chess At 3 tells stories to teach chess to a younger generation than ever before. Our expertly crafted curriculum creates a world within the game that children fall in love with and aptly learn the game of chess. Typically chess education begins at the age of 8 but Chess At 3's curriculum has a proven ability to get 3-year olds playing and exploring chess.

The raw rules of chess are too abstract for 3-year olds to grasp. But Chess At 3 translates these difficult rules into easy to comprehend stories. The stories give reasons why rules in chess exist. For example, Kings don't move one square at a time, they move slow. One King moves slow because his belly is so big, and one moves slow because he's afraid of everything. Children are able to follow these memorable stories, and without knowing it, start to play and love chess.

The benefits of Chess At 3's curriculum are:

  • emotional intelligence
  • creative problem solving
  • concentration and focus
  • leadership capacities
  • strategic thinking

Our Program is taught in several schools in New York City:

  • Washington Market
  • Beginnings Nursery School
  • The International Preschool
  • Spuyten Duyvil
  • The Goddard School System
