Message from Dr. Migliorino
Greetings NPS Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and that you and your students are all energized to get back to the classroom. This is an exciting and busy time and, as you will see below, there is so much good going on in our district. Between student achievement, staff recognitions, exciting events and coming bond projects, it is truly a season of excellence at Norman Public Schools.
As you likely know, the Norman community has again demonstrated its steadfast support of our schools with the passage of our bond proposal. We very much appreciate the astounding approval we received with nearly 80 percent of the vote in favor of the bond. These funds will allow us to build storm shelters and invest in security improvements, instructional materials, fine arts additions, athletics upgrades, and a myriad of fundamental needs to maintain and improve our existing facilities. We are honored that the community has also voted to allow us to build or renovate a facility for Dimensions Academy, a program that serves students who have experienced severe trauma or thrive in alternative learning environments.
Thanks to the countless hours of planning and preparation that went into the bond proposal, we have hit the ground running since election day. Work is already being done to get these projects underway to deliver on our promises. I could not be more excited to see these plans become a reality for our students. I also want to make you aware of another important election on the horizon. Each year one of the five seats on the Norman Board of Education is up for election. Our board serves a vital role in our district. This body and the dedicated people who serve on it shape our district and set its course. Through hundreds of hours of selfless service, these individuals oversee all that the district does, impacting every one of our students on a daily basis. We would not be the world-class district that we are today without their dedication, influence and oversight.
On Tuesday, April 2, voters from District 4 will have the opportunity to elect a representative to the board. If you live in District 4, please take the time learn about the candidates and make sure you get out and vote. If you don't live in this district, I would still encourage you to learn about these candidates and talk about them with your friends, family and neighbors. Our community and our schools are strongest when we are all actively engaged in our democracy. Click below for election resources.
Thank you for the confidence you have in our work to prepare and inspire all students to achieve their full potential. It is our pleasure to serve this community and we appreciate the unparalleled support for our students the Norman community has continued to demonstrate.
