LPCS Panther's Paw on Ms. Peters

It’s hard to believe, but this is my tenth year teaching at LPCS! Each year I have learned more about this community and have been able to work with wonderful students. I grew up in the town of Hope. My parents and sister still live in Hope, but I bought a home in Lake Pleasant and moved here soon after accepting my teaching position at LPCS. Growing up, I attended Wells Central School, so I appreciate the wonderful work teachers can do in small schools. After high school I attended Elmira College to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Adolescent Education: Social Studies, as well as Anthropology and Sociology. To make a long story short, this allowed me to become a social studies teacher. For my master’s degree, I chose to attend SUNY Albany for Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology. Once I became employed in teaching, I realized I really enjoyed working with special education students. It was then that I decided to take the coursework required to teach students with disabilities. I also realized that I loved working with elementary students, so I took the classes needed to work with younger students. I spent my first seven years at LPCS teaching social studies and special education. This is my third year working here in the combined position of K-4 Academic Intervention and Special Education teacher. I thoroughly enjoy my students at LPCS! Seeing students make progress is so awesome! Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends. Spending time at my parents’ camp on the lake in Wells is so peaceful. One of my favorite trips to take is to Disney with my friends from college. I love everything Disney has to offer, but riding the roller coasters with my friend is the best! My favorite movies are war movies, specifically about any war in which the United States has been involved. My favorite television series is Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. I also enjoy music, especially playing the piano and flute. Teaching at LPCS and living in southern Hamilton County has been a rewarding experience as I have had the opportunity to spend time with students, family, and friends.

Veterans Day Ceremony 2018

November 9, 2018

Lake Pleasant Central School District honored our local Veterans by welcoming them with cheers and applause on Friday, November 9th. Veterans were invited to enjoy a breakfast made by our very own Ms. O'Connell and Mrs. Aird with the help of our 8th grade students that served the meal. Following breakfast, the Veterans were showered with songs, poems and tokens of appreciation for all they have sacrificed for our freedoms.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Veterans for attending our ceremony. We were honored to have Mr. Charles VanDerMallie Jr. and Mr. Paul Nelson speak to the students and bring pictures to share.

We would also like the thank the students, teachers, and staff for their hard work and dedication for making the morning a true success. Kudos to all!
