Want to know what new and exciting things are happening in 2018? Check out the CBB!
HSE Schools has created a Community Bulletin Board on its district website. This will serve as a central location to find information about activities and events promoted by organizations that serve our students and their families. This is where the Fishers Library, YMCA, S.P.O.R.T.S. and other groups' registration information will be located.
No HOMEWORK CLUB 4/16-24. It will resume Wednesday, 4/25.
Let's celebrate student growth!
Please note that we will begin after announcements each day. Each assessment takes just under 60 minutes. If your child arrives after we begin or is ill on as an assessment day, he/she will take their assessment another day.
A few reminders for student success during this timeframe:
- Get a good night sleep.
- Eat breakfast and put some 'gas' in his/her tank!
- Encourage him/her to do their personal best and give best effort.
- Bring iPad each day fully charged.
We can't wait to see the progress and growth for everyone! We are proud of our Falcons this year!!

Counselor's Corner
The Second Step program is being used at both the 5th and 6th grade levels. This program aims to protect students from risky behaviors such as bullying, aggression, and substance abuse, while improving their school success.
5th Grade April Lesson: Problem Solving-Using the Action Steps
•Analyze a problem by stating what the problem is and identifying the perspectives of those involved
•Generate multiple options for solving a problem
•Understanding how to consider each option and decide on the best one
•Apply the first four Action Steps
6th Grade April Lesson: Substance Abuse Prevention-Myths and Facts
•Identify basic facts about how their brains and bodies are affected by substance abuse
•Identify how substance abuse can negatively affect their lives
•Distinguish myths from facts about substances and substance abuse
How can we create a more inclusive community and school?
Help us create action on May 15th at 7pm at Fall Creek Intermediate School!
As this question has been a source of much discussion and practice, Fall Creek Intermediate will be opening its doors and opening up a solution-focused dialogue on how we, collectively, can improve as a community. The entire Fall Creek Falcon family (current, former, and future) are invited to help us roll up our sleeves to create action. In addition, community stakeholders are welcome to be involved in the discussion. We will be utilizing the “World Café” format to provide a fun and friendly dialogue focused on improving our school, community, and the world at large!

FCI Connect Service Project
FCI Connect is collecting travel size toiletries, socks, and Walmart gift cards for homeless teens in Indianapolis. All donations will be given to Outreach Inc. an organization that serves the homeless youth in the Indianapolis area. Donation boxes are located around the school and can be turned in from April 13th-April 26th. To find out more about Outreach Inc. visit www.outreachindiana.org. Thank you for your donations!
FCI Staff Appreciation week
PTO is planning our 2018 Staff Appreciation Week for Fall Creek Intermediate! Our teachers, aides, administrators, janitors, cafeteria workers, nurses and more make our school such a special place and we are hoping to spoil them! Staff Appreciation Week is scheduled for May 7-11.
We are seeking donations similar but not limited to the following:
- A lunch sponsor on one of the days that would be willing to donate a carry-in lunch for the 85 teachers and staff.
- A sweet treat sponsor on one of the days that would be willing to donate a sweet treat for us to provide the 85 teachers and staff.
- Gift card, retail merchandise and or another donation that could be used for a raffle for our staff. Our goal is 85 items so that each staff member receives something! Every business that donates will be listed in a newsletter that is distributed to every students’ family.
- An item, coupon or promotional item you might be willing to donate for a ‘swag bag’ that week. In the past, we’ve had pens, pencils, chapstick, hand-sanitizer, local coupons for free items at restaurants, etc. We need 85 of whatever you choose to include.
If you are a business owner or simply a supportive parent and are interested in making any kind of donation that needs picked up, please contact us and we’d be happy to do that! Fall Creek Youth Wrestling Clinic
For all 2nd - 6th graders interested in wrestling, join the HSE High School & FCJH wrestlers for the Youth Wrestling Clinic coming up in May!
FCI Teams Up with Goodwill
Fall Creek Intermediate and HSE school district have teamed up with Goodwill to collect clothing donations. HSE schools will receive a Goodwill clothing voucher to distribute to those in need for every 13-gallon bag of gently used clothing received. The FCI bin is located in the music hallway near the display cases.

Important Safety Item Reminders
- Buzzer protocol - When you ring the buzzer for entry, remember that the office staff will ask you your name, intent, child's name/homeroom to ensure those that enter FCI should enter.
- Photo ID - Whether picking up or dropping off, please have photo ID such as your driver's license ready for identification purposes.
- Door 1 entry - All visitors must enter via door 1 regardless of time of day. Please do not come in the cafeteria door with students before school.
- Bus lot - Do not enter the bus lot prior to bus arrival or while buses are in the lot.
- Drop-off - Please make all attempts possible to have your child exit your vehicle on the side of the curb. Exit the opposite side and walking in between cars is not safe.
Safe Visitor Badges
Per HSE Policy, visitors must have their Safe Visitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the SafeVisitor App (available for iPhones and in Google Play for all other phones) or have your badge available when you come into the school. Looking up names can lead to the wrong person being signed in.
Upon leaving, please give your printed badge to the office staff for quick check-out.

Please look for a Skylert to be sent twice a month from FCI providing you with a link to the most recent FALCON FLYER newsletter. This will be how we will keep you up-to-date with events and happenings at FCI. Please feel free to share the link with other FCI families who may have not received the Skylert. In addition, please suggest to them that they verify current contact information in Skyward as this is where information for future Skylerts is pulled from. Communication is extremely important to us, and we value your involvement!
