The CloudOpting teamAbout
- Deliver online public services to citizens and third-parties,
- Centrally manage operational data and citizen information within a controlled environment, and
- Allow citizens to develop innovative new services.
CloudOpting will enhance the adoption of cloud platforms by stimulating a change of practice in public authorities and thus enabling efficient and transparent services, and new market applications to private companies and citizens. Among other benefits, the project will allow public administrations and private companies to create new services capable of interacting and sharing information among them, while providing consumer-oriented front-end interfaces and tools, which are quite intuitive to operate, resulting in an increased expectation and demand for complex services in ever-reducing timescales.

Consortium
Ten partners from European science and industry have joined forces in the CloudOpting research project to investigate the adoption of Cloud services by European Public Administrations and use of shared platforms for the provision of public services to citizens and end-users. Further participant information is available at www.cloudopting.eu.
CloudOpting values
- Easy migration and easily reproduction: we will propose rules for instrumenting and migrating the applications
- Capacity to integrate services in heterogeneous cloud environments: two very different cloud models will be tested and validated
- Billing information on the services provided: there will be tools for monitoring, cost measurement and billing
- Creation of sustainable business models which can be proposed to any Public Administration
CloudOpting experiments
The services to be migrated on the cloud environment originate from a variety of sectors:
- Environment
- Society
- Transportation
- Energy
- Mobile apps
- IoT
- Open Data
The following diagram shows the different actors that make up the CloudOpting system and the interaction between them
The system identifies a network of 17 roles, with a top layer of final users (application consumers), public entities (public entities that establish a contractual relationship with CloudOpting Service Provider in order to consume services), commercial agents (promoters of the CloudOpting platform advantages and services, also responsible for the establishment of relationships with application owners in order to incorporate IT services) and service providers (agents that establish relationships with public entities and are responsible for the end-to-end service provision), followed by an application, platform and service layer.

Second market consultation of Cloud for Europe in London
Cloud4Cities – CloudBCN steering committee
Steering committee of Cloud4Cities - CloudBCN is a project lead by IMI with the participation of 10 more municipalities of Catalonia, aimed to identify, define and develop new IT common services within the public sector. The steering committees take place quarterly, hosted by a different municipality every time. During the event, discussions regarding two of the services that are going to be migrated within CloudOpting project (OpenData and Mobile services), in terms of technical solution, migration calendar and requirements, took place. City council representatives were approached to participate in these pilots, which is an approach well-aligned with the objectives of Cloudopting in terms of linking the pilots to the cities, reaching a wider number of municipalities involved and assuring the future use and sustainability of the services migrated.

Published Deliverables
This deliverable presents an outline of the dissemination strategy and activities that will be undertaken during the duration of the project. The dissemination plan lists the identified target audiences that will be reached by the project benefits and results; key messages that will be accurately customized to effectively meet the specific type of audience; and communication channels that will be exploited to achieve the objectives of the diffusion efforts. A number of national and international events have been considered as an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with stakeholders and target groups face-to-face. Finally, a list of evaluation criteria has been provided in order to track the success of the diffusion activities. The dissemination plan will serve as a guideline to continuously identify and accomplish communication efforts, and will be regularly updated as the project matures, with additional activities and events to be attended.
