HOME OF THE "PROUD PATRIOTS"
The mission of Cedar Grove Elementary is to grow our students into respectful, curious and productive citizens.
"I Am A Good Friend"
October's Character Education Theme!
We will kick off this new month with a "Week of Respect." Below please find the details of this week including our school spirit days and special morning announcements scheduled:
Monday, 10/3/22
- School Spirit Day: Put Bullying to Bed - Wear your pajamas to school
- Morning Announcement/Thought for the Day (read by a Gr. 5 Peer Leader):
An “upstander” is someone who notices when something is wrong and acts to make it right. When an upstander sees or hears about someone being treated unkindly they speak up. Being an upstander is being a hero: we are standing up for what is right and doing our best to help support and protect someone whose feelings or body is being hurt. “Proud Patriots” are upstanders!
Tuesday, 10/4/22
- School Spirit Day: Being kind is no sweat - wear sweats
- Morning Announcement/Thought for the Day (read by a Gr.5 Peer Leader):
Kindness is when we think about how others are feeling and we do something nice for them even when we do not have to. Being kind is a skill we can practice just like math and reading. Kindness is also contagious, which means that kindness spreads from person to person. When you are a kind person, you have kind thoughts, kind feelings and kind behavior. “Proud Patriots” practice kindness.
Thursday, 10/6/22
- School Spirit Day: Our friendships can’t be untied - wear tie dye
- Morning Announcement/Thought for the Day (read by a Gr.5 Peer Leader):
Having friends makes us happy. Friends are fun, they stick by your side when you are having a bad day and they can make even the most boring day more exciting. If you want to have friends, you have to be a good friend. Some ways you can be a good friend are:
- Smile
- Invite others to play or hang out with you
- Share
- Be kind
- Be happy when your friend wins a game or does well on a test or project
- Don’t lose your temper if you get upset with your friend. Talk it out. And if you did something wrong, say you are sorry.
“Proud Patriots” work hard to be a good friend to others!
Friday, 10/7/22
- School Spirit Day: Be united - Wear your red, white & blue school spirit
- Morning Announcement/Thought for the Day (read by a Gr.5 Peer Leader):
Proud Patriots are respectful, curious and productive. We show we are Proud Patriots when we
- Use kind words
- Respect ourselves, each other and our school
- Demonstrate self-control
- Make wise choices
- And work hard everyday to be our best
We are “Proud Patriots!”

Brookside Drop-Off & Pick-Up
No Cars Allowed in the Cedar Grove Lot
Starting Tuesday, 9/27, the entrance to the Cedar Grove Parking Lot will be "coned off" to prevent any cars entering or exiting the lot between 3:15pm and 3:45pm. There is a safety issue with parents parking in the Cedar Grove Lot and walking in between buses.
Here is the link to our arrival and dismissal procedures. These procedures were located in the Welcome Back Letter and are included in our digital Proud Patriot Family Handbook.
Our goal is to have cars dismissed from the Brookside Lot within 15 minutes from when students leave the building. From the first arrival of cars to emptying the lot, we expect it may take up to 30 minutes depending on what time you arrive.
Thank you for following our procedures.
