Front Office Notes
Patriot Nation,
Welcome back to another edition of the newsletter! We have a lot of information this week. The College and Skilled Trades Fair will be tomorrow in the PAC starting at 6p. This is for Seniors and/or parents (parents are welcome to attend even if their student is not).
We have three more weeks until the end of the first quarter and the start of Parent-Teacher Conferences. If you would like to set-up a specific time to meet with teachers, please contact them directly. The conferences run like an open-house, so no appointment needed, however we would like to keep meetings to about 10 minutes so that we can accommodate schedules of all parents who opt to attend. If you feel that is not enough time, please contact those teachers.
Tutoring is still happening every Tuesday and Thursday after school until about 5:30.
Homecoming is this week! Check out Google Classroom for information as well as dress-up days for the week.
As always, if there are any questions or concerns, please reach out!
Have a great week!
Best Regards,
Seeger Administration

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Everyone can play a role in preventing suicide. Please take the time to learn the warning signs of suicide and how to help a person struggling with suicidal ideations(at the end of the newsletter as well).
Below, I have included information on 5 Steps To Help and Warning Signs from the National Institute of Mental Health.
One of the tools to give someone struggling with a crisis is the number for the Crisis and Suicide Prevention Hotline. You can simply text or call 988 and get help from a crisis volunteer.

Mrs. Beyer
Welcome back Patriot Nation! This week for the Teacher Feature we talked with Mrs. Beyer, who’s in her 27th year here at Seeger, teaching English 12, Technical Communications, and short stories.
The first thing we learned about Mrs. Beyer is that she enjoys a wide variety of music and attending concerts. Then we asked her about poetry, discovering that her favorite poem is "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost. This is what she had to say on the matter:
“Frost's poem was featured in one of my favorite books, The Outsiders. Ponyboy recites the poem to Johnny as they watch the sunrise while hiding out in the church. The poem is one of my favorites because it reminds us that nothing lasts forever, especially the good and innocent. I love that Hinton includes the poem in her book because it shows the softer side of ‘the Greasers.’ ‘Stay gold, Ponyboy.’"
We also found out that her favorite scents are the smell of lilacs, fresh mountain air, or the beach. This is because the smells remind her of time spent outdoors or traveling with her family.
Still curious? Here are some more fun facts about Mrs. Beyer!

Aiden Vandivier-Abney
This week’s Seeger Junior High Student of the Week was Aiden Vandivier-Abney! Aiden was chosen by Mrs. Conrad.
Mrs. Conrad explained what she looks for in a Student of the Week.
“When I pick a student of the week, I try to think of a student who is hard-working, responsible, and kind to others.”
Mrs. Conrad explained how hard it is to choose a student of the week
“I usually have many students that fit this description, so it can be hard to pick sometimes.”
Mrs. Conrad explained why she picked Aiden.
“I picked Aiden because he fits all of the criteria I have mentioned and he is very hard- working and polite.” She also mentioned that, “He is very dependable and trustworthy as well.”
I spoke with Aiden and he told me his favorite part of Mrs. Conrad’s class.
“The best part of Mrs. Conrad’s class is that it is easy for me...I am very surprised to be the Student of the Week.”

September Athletes Coming Soon!
Seeger administration, along with help and support of our coaches, want to acknowledge our student athletes who make a impact in the classroom and on our teams. Each month, coaches will recognize athletes who demonstrate quality athletic, academic, and leadership characteristics that make our school, teams, and community proud.
The athletes will then be presented with a certificate and pin to commemorate their accomplishment.
The minimum requirements to be nominated for Scholar-Athlete of the Month are:
- No discipline referrals
- Must be an honor-roll student (all grades 80% or better)
- Made a significant impact during games, practices, and/or meetings for the month
- Must participate in a JV/Varsity sport
Parent Help Needed!
Please use the button below for sign-ups.
Any family with an athlete this year is asked to volunteer for 1 event.
We appreciate our community and all the volunteers! Due to the willing hands we donated over $10,000 in 2022/2023 for athletic jackets, scholarships, team meals, and team donations for all MSD of Warren County schools!

Cross Country
The Seeger Cross Country team continues to shine!
On Tuesday, the teams trained through the meet by running up to 28 miles in the previous 3 days. The girls powered through the North Vermillion Invite, still coming out victorious! On the boys side, they were running without #1 runner and still pulled out a runner up finish to a strong Illinois squad!
The tough training early in the week paid off for both groups! On Saturday, the teams traveled to Illinois to face some of the best teams in Illinois (1A) and they both proved worthy! The Boys team had it's best placing ever and came home with a 4th place plaque against 29 teams! They beat 4 ranked Illinois teams in the process!! They were led by Ethan Guminski (9th) with an all-time Seeger best time for the course and Nathan Odle (20th)! The girls placed 4th, led by a huge 3rd place run be Dessie Austin, who took 1:40 off her time from last year in the race! Caleigh Purcell (18th), Adara Austin (24th), and Emily Greene (31st) also helped the team placement!!
Football
The Patriots remain undefeated in WRC play after taking down Fountain Central in what was one of the most exciting games in the last few seasons! Great football coupled with nail-biting excitement ended with the Patriots on top 47-42. The last 3-minutes provided huge plays for both teams in what accounted for three lead changes and the final go-ahead score for the patriots with 38 seconds left in the game. Check out the score tracking for the second half here.
The Patriots face Covington on Friday for Homecoming, and South Vermillion at home on Oct. 6 for Senior Night, then travel to North Vermillion for the Week 9 conclusion to the regular season.
