Jeremiah Gray Kindergarten Academy
Home of the Little Giants - September 4, 2020
School will be closed Monday, September 7th in honor of the Labor Day holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 8th!
A Chromebooks has been scanned and issued to your child, along with a protective case and charger. We ask that you keep the device in the case, because it is very important that when they are returned they are still in good working order. Please talk to your child and make sure they take good care of their Chromebook.
Additionally, we have spent a lot of time learning how to use a learning platform called Canvas to help us deliver virtual lessons to our students. Students have already been learning how to use the Chromebooks to access Canvas, and we will continue to practice each week. Below you will find a video with a virtual training so you can learn how to use these devices to access Canvas as well.
Starting next week, these Chromebooks will begin coming home with students each night. We are sending them home so that our students will have their device in the event we would need to switch to virtual learning again. It is important to charge the Chromebook at home every night. Students will bring their device back to school every day to use in the classroom. Since there is not pocket in the case for the chargers PLEASE KEEP THE CHARGER AT HOME so it does not get lost.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Principal Hansell at email@example.com

If your child needs prescription or over the counter medicine, management of chronic
health conditions or any health needs requiring a physician order while in school, your
written permission is required, in advance. In an emergency situation, to prevent
death or serious injury, the School Nurse and School staff will act to prevent such injury
or death and stabilize the situation
At Home Learning Kit Reminder
We ask that you please keep those safely at home, and do not use them until directed by your teacher. If you didn't pick it up during the Open House, we have sent this home in your child's backpack. Please take that out and keep it safely at home. (We don't want our kids carrying around a heavy bag!)
Thanks in advance for your help!
Each day we enjoy interacting with our families as they drop off their kids and pick them up. Thank you for your warm greetings and smiles.
As you know, safety is our number one priority. We have a safety concern, and we need your help with it to keep our arrival and dismissal safe and efficient.
We have had parents become impatient and try to get around the car line. They have tried to drive straight through to the Kindergarten Academy without getting into the JGE/JGKA joint car line. We have had parents become impatient and drive around cars in the car line. Both of these scenarios are dangerous for our families and students. We ask that all parents stay in the car line and follow the direction of the staff members.
We will do our very best to move the line as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation with our procedures.

Leadership Academy 2020-21
Applications are open for this year's Perry Township Schools Leadership Academy.
The Academy is an engaging, eight-month learning experience for select Perry Township community leaders and parents to gain a deeper understanding of our district. This year, every Leadership class will be virtual. We recognize that some families are managing in-person learning for their students while others are navigating remote learning. Therefore, we believe that a virtual meeting may be more convenient for this year’s participants.
The Academy was designed with three goals in mind for participants:
Gain a deeper understanding of how Perry Township Schools function
Experience the engaging learning style that our educators use to teach students
Develop an understanding of how Perry Township Schools has created an award-winning culture of educational excellence that is recognized by national education experts
Academy participants will attend eight one-hour classes that will meet at 8 a.m. on either the first or second Tuesday or Wednesday of the month from October – May:
To apply or for more information, visit http://www.perryschools.org/leadership-academy/
Dear Parents/Guardians of second and fifth grade students:
We need additional information on the academic needs and performance of individual students in order to provide instruction at the appropriate level for each child. All second and fifth grade students will take a standardized test to begin to collect this information over the school year as a part of our high ability screening process. The testing will take place in September. If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact Kim Jovic at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Important - Student Accident Insurance
Student Accident Insurance is available to any parent/guardian of a student in Perry Township. Please contact your school's front office for information on cost, coverage and how to sign up or you can visit our website at perryschools.org under the parent section (policies & other forms).
What's going on in the Community
There is still time to fill out the 2020 Census!
Responding to the 2020 Census is our civic duty and affects the allocation of funding for our community’s public resources, including schools. It also affects how we plan for the future and how we are represented in government.
It only takes a few minutes, and the U.S. Census Bureau keeps your information confidential. The deadline to respond is September 30.
