Graffiti Art workshop
Here is the video produced by BrandHK to promote Hong Kong as a global creative hub. Our graffiti wall features in this! Here is the link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMmR6RixxH8&feature=youtu.be
The Art workshop was a huge success. We are sad that some students had to miss out this time due to such a high demand. We will share the artist's presentation with all children as it shows his inspiration for our graffiti wall. The children involved created some outstanding artwork and found the morning very inspiring. Children will be bringing their artwork home in a few days. Some may also be displayed throughout the school. Thanks to Ms Lavery (5L) for organising the event.
Screenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age (Save the date!)
Have you heard of this documentary/movie that is being shown in a number of venues throughout the world? Some of you may have viewed it already? This documentary will offer insights from authors, psychologists and brain scientists into the issue of screen addiction. Click here for further information about the documentary. This movie is considered most suitable for children aged 10 and above.
A small working group including parents and staff will watch the movie over the next couple of weeks to get a feel for the appropriateness of this movie for our older students. We have tentatively booked a screening for our community at our School on Thursday 11 May at 6pm in the Centre for Performing Arts and Sports. More details to follow.
The Year 6 PYP Exhibition
Our year 6 students are currently involved in deep, collaborative inquiry into real life issues or problems connected to the United Nations Sustainable Goals. The students are working in groups to explore and research an area of interest connected to these goals. Every student is also required to take action to make a difference related to their area of focus. You will note in this newsletter and over the next few weeks that students will be sharing their action with the school community and will often be seeking your support to help make a difference! They are very passionate and excited to be exploring such meaningful and relevant issues that affect our world today.
Regards,
Brenda

Glenealy Top Tech Tip
How to Search Message Conversations on your iPhone
No one wants to search through dozens (if not hundreds) of messages looking for the specific conversation or information they need.
Not too long ago iMessages added a search bar at the top, but that doesn’t mean finding the specific message you’re looking for is always easy. In fact, of the following apps (iMessage, Facebook and Whatsapp), Whatsapp has the best search feature, with Facebook close behind, and iMessage following.
To find out how to look through your message histories and the best tips and tricks for doing so on the iPhone and iPad click here.
Year 6 Exhibition - Taking Action
We have started our exhibition journey and begun to take action by putting boxes in each classroom so that our fellow students can help us recycle plastic. The children will be encouraged to bring used plastic from home or elsewhere to school, to recycle them in a fun way. We are going to make wearable clothing and a sculpture out of the plastic we collect. This action will show other children how you can reuse plastic in an artistic way. More importantly we want to bring the attention of plastic pollution and how this destroys nature and our environment. We will do this by giving examples to the children through our exhibition. We are enjoying these weeks that are leading us closer to the night of the exhibition and are very excited to see what will come upon us and all of the surprises.
Anastasia, Indya, Chloe and Donnacha 6B
Year 6 students are organising a small coin collection as part of their Exhibition issue - No Poverty. All donations will go to the Hong Kong Community Chest. There will be a collection on the lower playground every Monday and Fridayuntil the Easter break so please look out for Thomas, Family and Bryan and get rid of your small change!
