Message from Mr. Burns
We had an amazing time at our annual WIldcat Fun Run on Friday. It was great to see so many families come out and cheer on our students. Also, thank you to our PTA and all the volunteers who took time out of their day to make the day a great success. Our Fun Run helps our PTA fund all the great events we have throughout the school year. As of Friday, we had raised over $18,000! This is amazing, so thank you to all those who donated. There is still time left to donate so we can get closer to our $25,000 goal:)

Spirit Week 10/24/23-10/31/23
Throughout the month of October students have been participating in different activities to help spread awareness about making safe, healthy and kind choices. Additionally, next week is National Red Ribbon Week which is a time to show our support and commitment to being drug free and making safe & healthy choices with our bodies. We will be having a spirit week this week to culminate our month-long theme, and to celebrate & show our commitment to making these safe, healthy and kind decisions. We look forward to seeing all of the school spirit! The spirit week schedule can be found HERE.
Fall Festival/Halloween
Parade: 2:00 p.m. (back of school)
Parties: Teachers will lead students with a Fall Festival themed-party
Costumes: Students can wear costumes to school. Also, we are encouraging students who don't want to wear a costume to wear Wims gear or join in the activity for Spirit Week.
Snacks: PTA will provide snacks/goodies for all students. No additional snacks are needed.
Families: Families can join us outside for the parade. Unfortunately, we are not having families in the building during the parties.
Holiday Giving Project
The Holiday Giving Project has provided Thanksgiving and December holiday assistance to low-income households for over 30 years. A network of social workers, school counselors, and human service professionals refer families in need of assistance. Local non-profits, faith-based organizations, and public agencies serve Holiday Giving recipients, as donations are available.
If you and your family are in need and would like to be referred for possible assistance for the holiday season, please complete this referral form to provide the required information. This information will be sent directly to our School Counselor, Mrs. Ioli, who will then enter it into the Holiday Giving Database on your behalf. While a referral is not a guarantee of assistance, the Project helps as many families in need as donations allow. Please complete this form no later than TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact our School Counselor, Lauren Ioli at Lauren_A_Ioli@mcpsmd.org.

From the PTA Board
Dear Families,
On behalf of the PTA Board, I would like to thank our Wims Community for their support of Fun Run. This is the most important event of our school year as it funds the PTA budget, which is approved each spring, and is critical to our ability to provide the events our students love: Movie Night, holiday goodie bags, STEAM Expo, the Variety Show, Bingo Night, and Multicultural Night to name a few. It also supports our ability to celebrate our amazing staff throughout the year. As of this morning, you have raised almost $20,000 to support our school through the PTA! Fundraising will remain open through the end of this week, so you still have 5 more days to donate at www.mybooster.com.
Thank you to the 30+ volunteers who worked so hard to put together the Fun Run, some of which were out there from 7:30 in the morning until 2:30 pm. We couldn’t do it without you. We saw so many smiles on the faces of our students on Friday and their energy was felt throughout the Wildcat community.
Congratulations to all the classrooms who won extra recess as well as to our 5th and 2nd graders for earning the chance to watch a movie during the school day (coming later this year). Finally, BIG congratulations to the students in Mrs. Benco’s 2nd grade class for having the most students register and support the Fun Run (86% of the class) and earning a special token of appreciation from the PTA!
Please save the date for our November PTA Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:30 pm at Wims. A Zoom link will be shared before the meeting for those who cannot attend in person. Free childcare will be provided by Global.
Have a wonderful Wildcat week!

We Need Your Photos
Our yearbook committee is hard at work planning the 2023-24 yearbook and photos of both PTA events (Open House, Movie Night, and Fun Run so far) as well as school activities (drop-off, pick-up, first day of school, daily routines) are a crucial part of the yearbook. Our team has created an upload link through Lifetouch so you can easily share your yearbook photos. Please visit this link (invite code: WIMS-GO-PRIDE-24) and create an account (or log in with your Shutterfly account). Thank you in advance!
