June 22nd at 11am- CES End-of-year Drive By Parade!
PLEASE ORGANIZE AT HOLY REDEEMER CHURCH ON HIGHLAND AVENUE STARTING AROUND 10:45am.
Dear Caregivers:
However, since buses are obviously not running this year, we would like to invite all to a "last day of school" parade so we can continue this tradition. We will have Monomoy Community Services and our staff socially distanced along the route to wave goodbye as families proceed through the route in their cars (only cars will be allowed-no foot or bike traffic will enter the parade).
When: June 22nd at 11am PLEASE ORGANIZE AT HOLY REDEEMER CHURCH ON HIGHLAND AVENUE STARTING AROUND 10:45am.
Route: In order to participate, you must enter the route starting at Old Harbor Road turn onto Depot Road. The route will drive by Monomoy Community Service and then turn to enter the front driveway of the school around the bus platform and then to Hitching Post. Cars will then enter the "kiss and ride" lot (Hitching Post) and continue around back out to the final right on Hitching Post. We will have a special area for grade 4 families to "pop their trunk" to receive a special gift from the PTO and grade 4 families.
SRO Massey and other safety personnel/staff will be along the route to help direct traffic.
A couple of safety notes to keep in mind:
1. No child(ren) or caregivers should exit their cars at anytime (this is a driving parade-no foot or bike traffic);
2. Social distancing will be maintained by staff, and masks will be worn;
3. No exchange of items/resouces will be allowed at this time (except for the "pop a trunk" area for grade 4);
4. Appropriate car safety procedures are expected;
3. Decorations, signs, and some form of identification (via a sign) of who is in the car is encouraged!
We are excited to share again in this tradition this year, so for any student that is not able to make the parade, we will also be streaming it live so stay tuned for a link to this event!

Reflections of the Learning From Grade 3:
R. Sweeney did an amazing job on his poster and presentation. Ryan also gave a lot of thought to the reflection component of the project. This is what he said:
"I liked learning more about my mom. I thought my poster was good. The next time I present, I will practice speaking louder." --R. Sweeney

Animal Report Reflection
After completing your animal presentation, please think about what you learned and how you did.
Name: J.Haetinger
My Animal: Largemouth Bass
What do I know about my animal that I did not know before?
Bass are cold blooded. The male/dad bass protect the eggs and babies until they are fry.
Did I present my information well so that others could learn more about my animal? How do I know?
I did my best to present. I answered the questions that were asked.
What is one thing I think I did really well in my presentation?
I worked hard on my poster, so the pictures showed what I was talking about.
What is one thing I would do differently to improve my presentation?
I was nervous about the presentation.

School in a Dream-Nicole Uzunova
School is like a dream, full of recess and fun,
Full of sports and activities, so your day is not glum.
School teaches many things, like letters A-Z,
And it has a fun way of demonstrating, like “bike” starts with “B”.
School is full of happy dreams, and good old memories,
Where you sit on your desk, do a test, and listen to the alphabet’s melodies.
ELA gives you knowledge only smart ones know,
And math gives you problems like 3+5, let’s go!
At UA they teach you hobbies you might like,
Like singing, dancing, painting, learning, and riding on a bike.
I would like to know, where you go, if school is not for you?
Well, school welcomes everyone with their own point of view.
School is exciting, full of fun and dance,
You can play with your school mates, like Bella,Eve and Lance.
Everything in school is good, once you get to know it,
But summer comes every year, and kids are happy that it’s here.

Lower Cape collaboration to provide free meals to children all summer-Volunteers Needed
Three local Lower Cape organizations are joining forces to lead an effort to ensure that the children of the community have access to free, healthy food throughout the summer. Food 4 Kids, Monomoy Regional School District, and Nauset Regional School District will be collaborating to offer free meals daily to all children under age 18 throughout the Lower and Outer Cape. The partnership will be extended to Truro and Provincetown with the aid and support of their Recreation Departments.
Food 4 Kids is an outreach ministry of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Orleans, working with the United States Department of Agriculture and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. For seven summers, the F4K Summer Food Service Program has served children and teens from Harwich to Provincetown. Since the school closures in March, both Monomoy and Nauset have been offering free meals to children on a daily basis. With school ending and summer about to begin, all three organizations were looking to continue offering free meals to children in the most effective way. In past years, Food 4 Kids typically served a much smaller number of youth than had been accessing meals through the two school districts and was looking for additional capacity. By joining forces, the summer meal program will be more efficient and better able to reach all of the children in the Lower and Outer Cape.
“Poverty and hunger are hidden realities on beautiful Cape Cod, but they are real here, and now more than ever,” adds Anne Koeher, Co-Director with Brenda Ridgeway of F4K. “It’s been amazing to see every town step forward to meet the increased need this summer. There was no hesitation on the part of Nauset and Monomoy Schools to collaborate with us. And the recreation departments in Truro and Provincetown have joined in to extend our reach.”
Meals will be prepared at Nauset Regional Middle School in Orleans, and teams of volunteers and staffers from both districts will pick up meals and deliver to area distribution sites. Teams of staffers and volunteers will manage the distribution of meals to families at the sites. A full list of sites can be found at the Food 4 Kids website at www.food4kidscapecod.org. The Food4Kids Summer Food Service Program will begin offering free meals to all children under age 18 on June 29, 2020, at locations from Harwich to Provincetown.

That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.”
