Principal’s Message
Our asynchronous virtual Open House is next week on Friday, September 24. Unfortunately, due to current COVID-19 conditions, we are unable to have an in person Open House. Therefore, each teacher will record an Open House video to share with parents. Videos will be shared at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24 in The Red Oak News/Las Noticias de Red Oak. Parents have the flexibility to view the videos at a time that is convenient for them since this is not a live event. Please follow up with your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions after viewing the video.
Have a great weekend!

NexTrex Recycling Program in Memory of Mrs. Román
Many of you may remember Mrs. Román who was a paraprofessional at Red Oak for more than 20 years. Sadly, she lost her battle with cancer this summer. In her memory, Red Oak will begin a plastic bag and film recycling program through NexTrex. If we collect 500 pounds of plastic bags and film, the collected plastic will be made into a bench for the playgrand in Mrs. Román’s memory. Please help us collect as much as we can by sending in your plastic bags and film beginning Monday, September 20. We have six months to reach our goal! Collection bins will be located throughout the building. All plastic collected must be clean, dry and free of food residue.
Here is a list of items that can be recycled:
Grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, plastic shipping envelopes, Ziploc and other reclosable food storage bags, cereal bags, case overwrap, salt bags, pallet wrap and stretch film, wood pellet bags and produce bags.
Thank you for helping us to honor Mrs. Román’s memory!
Reminder: FUNd Run 2021
The FUNd Run is back! We are excited to offer two FUNd ways to participate in 2021:
Runners and walkers can register for the IN-PERSON 5K Run or 1-Mile Family Walk on Saturday, October 2.
Runners and walkers can register to participate in a virtual 5K or 1-Mile Family Walk. This option allows participants to complete the event on their own schedule and on a course of their choice.
As always, funds raised both from the in-person event and the virtual event raise much-needed funds to support students in our community as part of a need-based scholarship fund providing critical support for items such as school supplies and musical instrument rentals.
Online registration is open now! Online registration will close September 28 for in-person participants and on October 2 for virtual participants. Click here to register!
All participants must pick up their race t-shirt at packet pick up. Participants running the in-person 5K also need to pick up their race bib/chip. Location: TBD
Thursday, September 30 from 12-6
Friday, October 1 from 12-6
Whether you select the in-person event or the virtual option, be sure to post pictures of your family and tag us on social media (@112foundation) or email pictures to us. “I ran the FUNd Run” signs are posted at all D112 schools for the perfect post-race photo op! Use hashtag #FUNdRun2021 when posting.
