Tiger Times

HCMS Family Newsletter, Sept 5, 2022

This week

Tuesday is our first virtual day of the school year. On virtual days, teachers have placed a short assignment for students to complete. Assignments may be accessed through Canvas on your child's device. Most assignments are review and practice, or in some cases, reading. If your child has a question that you are unable to answer, they can reach out to their teacher via Canvas or ask on Wednesday.

On Thursday night we have OPEN HOUSE at HCMS. Drop in between 5:30 and 7pm. If you would like to hear about HCMS from the administration or PTO, please plan to be in the theater by 6:15. We can't wait to have you visit your children's classrooms to hear about what they are learning this year.

Friday we will observe Patriot Day, commemorating 9/11/01. Please encourage your child to wear red, white and blue.

We had picture day last week and it is not too late to order pictures. The most efficient way to purchase is at the following link: my.lifetouch.com and put this code in where it asks for your Picture Day ID: EVTPZRQMW

Lifetouch has a partnership with Shutterfly so there are a lot of options!!

Make up picture day is October 5th.

Through a partnership with the foodbank and DFUMC, we are able to provide "Tiger Treats" which is a bag of food we will send home with your child on Fridays, if it would be helpful to your family. Here is the link for parents to sign their student up to bring home Saturday sacks this year.

Want to get involved? We are so fortunate to have an AWESOME PTO!! Head over to https://www.facebook.com/hammondcreekpto

to find out how you can volunteer and help us at HCMS.

Tiger Time starts September 7th

Tiger time is a free after school student support hour, Monday thru Thursday until 5pm. Tiger Time is not available on Fridays. Tiger Time is funded through federal dollars designed to support students with academics. Parents may request their child attend for help with reading and mathematics. Later in the school year, teachers and counselors may recommend your child attend.
