May School Election Information
School Election
Happy Spring! As I noticed the crocus poking up this morning, with blossoms, it reminded me that spring is school election time! (Principals think of weird things…) Anyway, I wanted to answer questions you might have about what is on our ballot this spring. Currently we have two trustee positions open and two candidates, both incumbents, running for those spots. Thank you to Birgen Knoff and Katie Ivester for your continued commitment to serving on the LaMotte School Board. Your hard work and dedication to our school is commendable. When you vote, you may vote for two candidates.
You will also be asked to vote for or against a Building Reserve Levy. We are at the end of our last voted levy for the Building Reserve fund. As we have done in the past, we are asking for $10,000.00 per year for five years to be placed in our Building Reserve Fund. This money is used for maintaining, equipping, furnishing, remodeling, and retrofitting the current building and grounds. As needs arise, the building reserve allows us to have money on hand to take care of them. For example, we will be replacing the flooring in the halls, bathrooms, and lunchroom this summer with funds from the Building Reserve Fund. The cost to a home with an assessed market value of $100,00.00 will be $4.70 for the year and $9.40 a year for owners of a home with $200,000.00 assessed market value.
This is money that can be carried over from year to year. As we need improvements and upgrades on our facility, this money is used so that we are not utilizing money from our general fund which pays for all educational expenses.
If you have any questions, or concerns about our upcoming election, or any matter concerning LaMotte School, please feel free to contact me. My door is open to you.
Thank you for your continued support of our school, our teachers and most importantly, our children.

Emergency Lunch
Emergency Lunch - Parents just a reminder to be sure and check that your child(ren) still have an emergency lunch in their locker.
School Days Program
Save your home Northwestern Energy Propane receipts! For every gallon you purchase, the school will earn $.02. It doesn't seem like much, but it adds up quickly! We will place a receipt box in the office, all you have to do is bring your original receipts to school and drop them in the box.
Check with your neighbors that may use propane (they don't have to live in our district) and ask them to save their receipts, then you can collect them. Check with businesses in the area, too!
We can earn up to $2000 for our school. The students will have a choice in how the money is spent! Think about how this money can be spent with the money earned from the School Days program! It's like money in the "tank".
