PTO Secret Shop

Last week our students had the opportunity to shop for their loved ones at the PTO Secret Shop. There was an incredible range of gifts for everyone in our students' lives from Grandparents to pets--and each item for the incredible price of only $2! We thank our PTO and all of the wonderful volunteers who helped our students shop for the holidays. Being able to buy gifts independently helps our students feel good about giving to others as they participate in the holiday season.

Dressing Appropriately for Winter Weather

When preparing for school, please make sure your children are appropriately dressed for the weather. We still go outside for recess in the winter unless the temperature and wind-chill are unhealthy or unsafe. Students should wear pants, coats, hats, and gloves for outside play each day. Please contact the nurse, Mrs. Shawn Pecoraio, if there are specific considerations or concerns for your child. Thank you!

Cold and Flu Season

Tis the season for many wonderful things. Unfortunately, it is also the season for cold and flu. Here are some things that will help us stay as healthy as possible this season.

Help kids stay healthy with these simple tips:

  • Get plenty of rest.
  • Drink lots of fluids and eat a balanced diet - especially breakfast!
  • Dress appropriately for cold weather.

Any child with the following symptoms should stay home:

  • Fever 100.4 degrees or higher. A child should not come back to school until the temperature is normal for 24 hours without medication.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea-cannot return until 24 hours after last vomit/diarrhea and are able to keep food down
  • Frequent cough
  • Any rash accompanied by a fever
  • Ear pain and/or eye drainage
  • Sore throat with a fever and/or rash

Please call our certified school nurse, Mrs. Shawn Pecoraio, RN, BSN, CSN, if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's illness. Have a safe and healthy winter!

Student Dismissal

Our instructional day ends at 3:45 pm. Our dismissal procedures occur between 3:45 and 4:05 pm. Picking up students early from school on a routine basis adds up to a significant loss of instructional time. When picking up students early from school, there should be an excusable reason to do so. Here is a list of reasons that are excusable in PA Public Schools: illness, quarantine, death in the immediate family, religious holidays, home emergencies, and health care directly related to the student.

School Visits and Security

To protect our students and staff while school is in session, all exterior doors are locked during the school day. Parents, guardians and all visitors during the school day must enter the school using the Main Entrance. Please have a valid state issued photo identification card with you (e.g., PA License). You will use the buzzer at the exterior of our Main Entrance to state your reason for visit and show your ID. Once inside the vestibule, you will again need to be buzzed in. Once in the Main Office, you will swipe your PA Licence and receive a visitor's sticker stating your name, time ,and destination. Visitors must wear this sticker at all times and return it to the Main Office when you sign out to leave Warwick. This procedure is necessary for all visitors, even those that frequently visit and volunteer. We appreciate your support and patience.
