About the Fair
The Chicago Columbian Exposition was designed by Daniel Burnham, Frederick Law Olmsted, and other great architects from around the world.. It was the prototype of what Burnham and his colleagues thought a city should be. It was designed to follow Beaux Arts principles of design, especially the French neoclassical architecture principles based on symmetry, balance, and splendor. The exposition covers more than 600 acres, featuring nearly 200 new buildings of predominantly neoclassical architecture, canals and lagoons, and people and cultures from 46 countries. The fair opens in May and runs through October 30, 1893, so don't miss your chance to see the grandeur of this beautiful city!
