On Thursday, January 5, at 11 a.m., FCAE students will host a representative from the Florence Police Department. The representative, who will likely come to the Florence site, will share information about personal safety and law enforcement careers and will also answer questions from participants. The annual celebration will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Francis Marion University’s Chapman Auditorium. This year's speaker will be Rev. Norman Gamble of New Ebenezer Baptist Church. On Tuesday, December 13, Lake City students had an opportunity to experience a grief therapy painting workshop with Ms. Janice Alford. Ms. Alford leads students in painting pieces of artwork that help them to express and share grief that they have experienced.
Eight FCAE Students Earn Forklift Operator Credentials
On Thursday, December 8, eight Florence County Adult Education students earned forklift operator certifications from an instructor at FDTC. In SC, forklift operators are in great demand in the Pee Dee area, and, on average, they make $30,500-$39,000/year. The class lasted all day, but at the end of the day, every student who took the class had passed both the written and hands-on portions of the class, earning a credential.
