Back to School Night
Back to School Night will be live streamed on the district website this Thursday, September 16th from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to hear a brief message from the Administration, then your student’s teachers will make short presentations regarding information about their classes. A document with information on how to view the live event will be shared with families next week. We will be collecting questions via a digital form during the event. These questions will be answered in a FAQ format and shared in the Weekly Update. Back to School Night will also be recorded for those who might not be able to attend.

Chromebook Update: All 6th grade students will exchange their existing Chromebook for a middle school Chromebook. Originally, this was scheduled to happen today. However, the arrival date for the Chromebooks will be later than expected. For this reason, the Chromebook exchange will be postponed. Any SMS who needs a device because theirs is broken or because they don't have one can check one out from the Media Center. Thank you for your flexibility and patience.
Bus Times: Many students found themselves late to school this first week or waiting awhile for their bus after school. Others also arrived home later than expected. These times will improve as our drivers learn the routes and stops. In addition, our Transportation Department is working to reduce the time students wait for the bus as well as the time spent on the bus. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Lunch will be provided to all students this year at no cost. Students are limited to one entrée (slice of pizza, hamburger, etc.) and there are no seconds. Extra items such as chips, muffins, and more are available; however, these items are not free and can be purchased using your Nutrition Services account. There is no option to purchase milk or juice for those students bringing a sack lunch.
Yearbook: This school year we will again be using TreeRing, an online yearbook option for our SMS 21-22 Yearbook. As we progress through the year, we would love to have pictures you may have taken of your child and their friends as well as activities they participated in. Directions will be coming out so that you may submit for the yearbook. Currently TreeRing is offering a 10% discount.

School Administered Medication: Oregon law and Oregon Administrative Rules require that all prescription and nonprescription medicine be administered to students by trained school personnel.
Parents must complete and sign a Medications Form authorizing school staff to administer any prescription or non-prescription medications. This form is required for all medications, even cough drops! (click here for medication forms)
Parents must deliver and pick up all medication. Medication must be in its original container (pharmacies will issue a transport bottle if requested when having the prescription filled.)
Written physician instructions (prescription label) are required for all requests to administer prescription medication. Instructions must include: name of student, name of medication, dosage, route, frequency of administration and any special instructions.
