Tech Management Tip
Finding & Sharing Images with Students
How can I be sure my students have quality images for projects while
- keeping them safe online?
- ensuring images are copyright free?
One way is to begin collecting images for units and projects in your Google Drive. This is a great place for image storage because ample space is available and folders are easily shared among colleagues. Pre-searching images not only ensures they are safe and relevant for your students, it also eliminates copyright concerns. One workflow solution is below. If you have other methods, please share with us!
Steps to Creating Photo Banks for Students:
1. Create a folder for your unit's images in Google Drive
2. Search for appropriate pictures/images that are copyright free or copyrighted for reuse:
- Option 1: www.pics4learning.com
- Option 2: Google Images (Search Images, click Search Tools at top, click usage rights, then select "labeled for noncommercial reuse")
3. Save the photos in the Google Drive folder created in Step 1
4. Share the folder (so that anyone with a link can view)
5. Create a QR code that students can scan to access the images
6. Save the QR code in the image folder for future use
The images can be used each year!
Below is a step-by-step guide to quick QR code creation using goo.gl:
