Paws Down the Best News for Canyon View Elementary Families

We're off to a good Start

September has been a whirl wind of activity. Geography Bee, Steam Club and Milers Club have hit the ground running. Many more activities are happening in the month of October and we need your help. Families are the key to making the clubs, events and running of the FFO. Your time, ideas and hard work make our school great. If you have ideas to share and a couple hours to spare, I think our kids are worth it. Our next FFO meeting is on October 11th at 8:05 AM. Join us for coffee and donuts.

SUccessful Grandparents Day for Kindergarteners and First Graders!

Reid Park Zoo provided both young and old alike with an engaging display of animals and stories of family dynamics. Did you know the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach lives and easts with hundreds of his family members under decomposing logs? Now that is one BIG family dinner! Everyone got to pet a hedgehog and see a giant elephant tooth. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and other family members who joined us.

STEAM Club

Today, Canyon View students took flight! Orville and Wilbur Wright would have smiled with pride watching Canyon View students learning about flying and building hoop gliders. Thank you to all our amazing students, teachers and Mr. Henikman for helping the STEAM club "soar" to new heights!

Picture Day October 1st!

Schedule those haircuts, polish your pearly whites because picture days is right around the corner! On October 1st, students will line up in hopes of smiling that perfect smile so family members will remark on how handsome they look. Order forms will be coming home next week, please remember to fill out each child's order form completely and send it in with your child. Or log on to www.inter-state.com and enter code 401632

Spelling Bee Begins October 2nd!

Dear Canyon View Families,

Prepare to be spellbound as Spelling Bee returns to the Canyon View Library Wednesdays at Lunch Break, joining an exciting variety of academic enrichment activities swarming around the campus, presented by the Canyon View Coyote Community!

Participation in Spelling Bees builds and strengthens communication skills across all academic disciplines, encourages confidence in classroom presentations, increases attention to detail in assignments, and promotes self-directed learning.

We will explore together the complexities and quirks of the English language through the Scripps Spelling Bee Official Word Lists for Grades 1 through 8.

Are you ready to be stung by the Spelling Bee?

Our first bee begins October 2, 2013, and our final bee will be December 18, 2013. Registration opens this week by email to sarong9@hotmail.com.

Parent participation is welcome and encouraged! Please sign in at the security office and join us on your day off or lunch hour! If you have any questions, please call Spelling Bee Volunteer Christine Jackson at615-9255.
