Updates from JMMS
Please read through the following announcements:
- Fundraiser Pick Up Information: Fundraiser items will be delivered to JMMS on October 4, 2022. Items will need to be picked up on October 4 between 4:00pm and 7:00pm in the Gold Gym. Please make arrangements to pick up items during this time, as we do not have the ability to store frozen items.
- JMMS Ski Club- Details coming in November!
- Attention parents of students who walk from JMMS: Please reinforce with your child the importance of making good decisions when departing from the middle school after the school day ends. This includes following all traffic laws as they walk as well as making positive choices with regard to our neighboring businesses and properties. Your support is critical! Thank you for your help with this!
- Attention students planning on attending Friday night football games: Students attending the game are to sit with their parents or sit in the Middle School student section. Students are not permitted to walk around the stadium. Remember: NO BAGS ARE PERMITTED IN THE STADIUM!
MANDATORY INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR ALL NEW TO CCP STUDENTS WISHING TO ATTEND STARK STATE COLLEGE AT JHS
Attention parents/guardians of students that intend to enroll in College Credit Plus (CCP) courses for the 2023-2024 school year through Stark State College. There is a MANDATORY informational meeting for all new CCP students wishing to attend Stark State College. At least one parent/guardian needs to "attend" the in-person meeting at JHS in the JCPA on November 9, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please visit our JHS Student Services webpage and reach out to your child's school counselor.
What do I do now? - New CCP Students (STARK STATE ONLY)
New CCP students will attend the meeting on November 9, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. at JHS in the JCPA.

Sign up for the Accuplacer exam on November 16, December 14, February 15, and March 15, 2023 (sign-up form will soon be posted on the Jackson High School CCP website.

Attention JMMS Parents!
Ohio State Law (ORC 3313.671) requires all children to be properly immunized against childhood diseases for them to attend school.
Children ages 11-18 are required to have the Tdap and Meningitis vaccines. If your child has received the required vaccinations, and you have not submitted the vaccine record, please do so at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. If your child has not received the required vaccines, please call your child’s physician or the local Health Department to schedule.
Please send a copy of your child’s updated vaccine record with the required vaccines as soon as possible. For your convenience you may send an electronic copy to the school nurse at email@example.com.
WASHINGTON DC TRIP REMINDER
Attention Parents of 8th graders attending Nov 1-3 Washington DC trip:
Reminder that the last Payment for the Washington DC trip is due Sept 29-30. Traveling classroom will be at JMMS both days to accept payment from students. Reminder that total cost of trip is $470.
Failure to make final payment may result in forfeiture of trip. Payments can be made through Venmo account: @Travelingclassrooms (Robert Jackson) or mail your payment to Traveling Classrooms PO Box 9568 Canton, Ohio 44711.
If plans have changed and your 8th grader is no longer attending the trip please notify Traveling Classroom at 330.284.1362. Anything after October 1 falls within the 30 day no refund policy.
The PSAT 8/9 is an optional test available to interested 8th grade students. This test can serve as practice for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test). We will not be having a PSAT 8/9 and 10 Spring test, so register now for SAT practice.
High School students will be test at JHS on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 at the beginning of the school day (periods 1-4) and Middle School students will have theirs administered at the JMMS. Students will report directly to their testing location. The test is approximately 3 hours long. The test measures knowledge and skills in reading, writing/language, and math. Practice tests and additional information about the PSAT/NMSQT can be found at www.collegeboard.org/psat
If an 8th grader would like to take the PSAT 8/9, complete the form linked below. ONCE the form has been received, a fee of $18 will be added to the students account that may be paid through the online "payschools" system. This will be added after all registration has closed. There is no make-up test date and no refund if you do not report on test day, regardless of the reason. Once registration closes, additional details will be provided regarding test location, report time, and what to bring.
The LAST DAY to register and pay for this test is Friday, September 9th, 2022.
**Please note: Participating JMMS students only take the "PSAT 8/9" test. The other tests are for high school students. If you have any questions, please contact your JMMS counselor.
Our P.A.T.T group is gearing up for some great events over the next few weeks and we could use your help!
10/5 - All JMMS students are welcome to attend to tailgate party before the 8th grade Football Team takes on Hoover. We encourage all students to stay for the game. Kick-off is at 5:30PM. Admission to the game is $ 4.00
10/6 - 6th grade Halloween bash! This is a great night for all JMMS 6th graders to come out and have a Spooktacular time with their classmates.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Community Tailgate - 9/30/22
Do you enjoy doing science experiments? Have you ever thought about doing a science fair project? Come to the informational meeting on October 5th from 3:00pm-3:45pm in room 275 to find out about the Science Club and the Science Fair Club. If you can’t attend the meeting, see Mrs. Dimengo in room 275 for more information.
Any 7th or 8th graders who want to participate in wrestling this year, please email Mr. Tracy or Mr. Fisher, or stop down in student services to Mr. Tracy's room for more information. We will give you a registration link to sign up.
Auditions for this year's musical, Shrek Jr., will be held on Monday, October 3rd and Wednesday, October 5th from 3:00-5:00 in the choir room. Please sign up for an audition day on the Shrek bulletin board outside the choir room, and visit the musical website to view audition information, scripts and music. The musical website can be found by clicking "Activities" under the Quick Links on the JMMS website, then clicking on "Musical."
