St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 11 | 1 JULY 2021
We thank you Lord, for this term. For our challenges, our successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right: to be witnesses of our faith. Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others. To be peacemakers in our family.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and a community that cares for us.
May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
Amen
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
The end of a very long and interesting term has finally arrived! While sadly Covid-19 has disrupted some of the planned activities this week, I was thrilled to see happy, relaxed students arriving at school each day. The following activities have been rescheduled for Term Three:
- NAIDOC Assembly – Thursday July 22 at 9am in Kalyara Mia
- Pyjama Day (LifeLink Fundraiser) – Tuesday August 3 (Pre-Primary to Year 6)
- Pyjama Day for Kindergarten White & Green – Wednesday August 4
Semester One reports were made available to parents on Tuesday via SEQTA Engage. If you are having trouble accessing your child’s report, please contact the Front Admin and a new link will be sent home. For any queries or concerns about reports, please contact your classroom teacher or specialist teacher.
A reminder that Term Three starts for students on Tuesday July 20. Monday July 19 is a Pupil Free Day with staff involved in a Religious Education Professional Learning Day looking at our Evangelisation Plan.
As we finish a very long and busy term, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our fabulous staff, wonderful students and supportive community for a great Term Two. I pray that the current Covid-19 restrictions do not linger, and you all get the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved holiday. If you are travelling please take care and travel safe. I look forward to seeing everyone return for Term Three!
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal

P&F NEWS
Hi Everyone,
The term has finally come to an end!
The Tommy Sugo Fundraiser was a huge success, the total amount raised was $2,857.45. Nathan from Tommy Sugo has very kindly donated himself the balance which rounded it up to $3,000. We would like to thank Nathan for his generosity and time. The fundraiser link will remain open for a further three months, raising further funds for our school.
The lucky class that won the class party was Year 1W. They will have the party next term. Congratulations and thank you everyone for all your support.
Retro Bingo tickets are on sale on the Trybooking link. You can either purchase your tickets or organise a bulk table purchase and use one name.
Any queries don't hesitate to contact me on ltulett@hotmail.com.
We will be organising grazing boxes to be purchased for the evening. More information coming soon.
We will also be having a fantastic raffle, tickets will go on sale when school returns. This will be drawn at the Retro Bingo night.
If anyone has any old cd's or records they wish to donate as decorations, please hand into the office.
Thank you to all the staff for everything you do for our children.
Enjoy the holidays and best of all no lunch making for two weeks! Stay safe and well.
Cheers
Lara Tulett

Footy Tipping
Hello Parents and Families,
The DOSCA Tipping competition is tightening up, one off week with tips and the leader board can easily shift.
Round 15 Winner
Lorraine J (LorJen) scoring 5 and a 18 point margin – great to see a new round winner take out the weekly honours and if only Lorraine’s beloved Eagles had won it would have made for a great round. Help yourself to a prize from the prize stash too Lorraine!
Current Leader Board
77 points - David B (Binns Clan)
77 points - Ben B (BenBristow18)
74 Points - Todd D (Goal Sneak)
73 points - Paul I (Iuliano Family)
73 points - Mark S (Scarymans)
72 points - Scarlett H (The Hill Family)
Round 16 starts tonight with the underachieving Gold Coast Suns against Richmond Tigers. Surely set for redemption from last week’s loss.
Keep safe and well and happy tipping over the holiday.
