Being In The Amazon
By Sarah Elise McClintock
Marilyn and Tom seem like the perfect couple, but after World War lll takes place in the Amazon the couple becomes happier than ever.
It seemed like a harmless, ordinary day at Hitch Point. When one army soldier named Tom got a knock at the door. Next thing he knew he was off fighting World War lll.
As the plane landed towards the entrance of the forest Tom realized that he definitely wasn’t in Australia anymore. The Amazon rainforest was dark and moist with the smallest splinter of light shining through the trees. It was a warm day reaching tops of 32 degrees. As they moved forward the troops could see a large waterfall nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tour in Paris. The water projected off leaves and landed faintly on the top of the men’s heads. Being tin the Amazon really made him smile even the conditions that were surronding him at that very moment. Green, yellow and blues covered the forest from the canopy to the rainforest floor. Birds flew form right to left swaying their feathers across the sky as if their life wasnt even being disturbed. How did a place like this get the state of war just because of governments disagreeing?
Four days after he had left Australia, he had made forty friends he would never forget. Being in the war had really changed his perspectives and what he thought were needs for life.
Each day the troops had finished preparing for the day and also had finished composing the letters and were ready to live through the day.
Months, weeks and days passed, but finally Tom arrived home. Marilyn was so pleased to have Tom in her life. He had protected the country and had his leg critically injured, but he still had a massive smile on his face.
Suddenly he bent down and said the most romantic words he could have ever said.
‘When you try and pick out anything by ourselves, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe, but I will tug, pull and fight till I have you. What I’m trying to say is; will you marry me?’
‘Yes…. Yes, I will!!’ Marilyn screamed.
The two got married and became the happiest couple in their town. I have to be cheesy but….. They lived happily ever after!
